I downloaded and installed per instruction MP 3.1. I'm getting *multiple error messages when it starts to load such as :Failed to open texture file:.....US2Forrest.ace,US2Grass.ace,and so on. After I finally scroll past these I get "Failed to open SMS File "ingame.sms" and so on and the route won't open. I checked the Terrtex folderand the files that could not be opened show up, so I wonder if they are corrupted. Here's the thing. I have a **terrible** internet connection. Downloads are something like 18,000BPS and it took me all night and part of a day to download Marias 3.1. Could this be the problem with my getting multiple corrupted files? Is there something about sloooooow downloading that tends to corrupt files? If so, I guess I have a problem because I don't have access to a high speed ISP. Anyone want to put the route on a CD and mail it to me? I don't know if this is acceptable to the authors, but I'd be glad to pay the expenses, as it sounds like a nice route.James
If winzip unpacks the files without problems you don't have to download again. Others had the same problems, look in one of the other forums for problem solving.Albert
sounds like the batch file did not run.in the new route folder you will find a file called installme.bat double click that if you do not have xtracks installed you will continue to get errors , FYI...
"ingame.sms" can be copied from your USA2 sound folder into your Marias Pass 3.1 sound folder. Worked for me. You also need the "standardized global\tsection.dat" file to replace the tsection.dat file in Marias 3.1. It can be found in the trainsim libary by doing a search on the above file name in the "search by text" box. Or just install Xtracks. It is a little more complicated, I just backed up my original tsection.dat file and copied the new one in it's place and it works good now. It wouldn't load at all until I did this. Chaz
YOu don't say what your OS is. Elsewhere on the forum you will find that Marias31 users have experienced difficulty with WinXP ignoring the Installme.bat file - if it doesn't run you will not have a workable route. If it did run, you will remember a parade of xcopy files running at high speed through a DOS Box. If it didn't run, locate Installme.bat in the Marias31 route root (terrible aliteration, what) and double click on it. WinXP has been notorious for ignoring .bat files which are supposed to run automatically and sometimes, though it is rare, WinXP will not run the bat file completely to the end. Worked OK for me, not so for others and there is no answer why that is. The Redmond elves strike again. Most of us are biting the bullet and installing Xtrack 3.4, its the easy way to get Marias 31 to work. Noit a big zip file, easy to install with clear instructions.Bing
