Jul-26-01, 07:08 PM (EST) "Recovery of a "Filed to load track database" error?" I dont know what I or this editor did, but everytime I try to load the route im working on I get the above error. I clicked advanced, and rebuild track database, but I still get the error on the next load. Is there a way to recover this? Or do I have to start from scratch again?Narrow rails breed narrow minds, who's appetite can only be quenched with coal and water. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-26-01, 07:42 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Recovery of a "Filed to load track database" error?" I asked the same question last week and haven't received any comments or suggestions. So far I have done the following, which hasn't helped any. I moved my trains folder elsewhere and reinstalled the whole thing, checking it before I moved my trains folder back in. Nothing had changed. I think I'm going to move my train folder again, delete the entire thing and try installing it from scratch. I think there is probably a single file somewhere that holds the key to this, but haven't located it yet. Just plain AGGRAVATING! Let me know also, if you find an answer. Thanks Robert Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-26-01, 08:30 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Recovery of a "Filed to load track database" error?" There really isn't a fix for it, only thing you can do is when you go to open your route, click advanced and click rebuild database, if this doesn't work. you might be able to recover the route by deleteing the oriiginal files (myroute.xxx) and renaming the BK files to the original. One thing that I have discovered is to constantly back up or save your route as you are going, because if you get too far in and encounter errors...it's back to the drawing board. Also, if you read the readme file that's located in your main directory, you find some information pertaining to this subject.

Jul-26-01, 08:35 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Recovery of a "Filed to load track database" error?" I ran into this too, and this is how to fix it. Rebuild the track db as above, but once you get into the Route Editor, eyeball the track db lines above the rails. What you are looking for are the blue vertical lines. If you see two adjacent to each other, that indicates a break in your route. Delete and rebuild. It is also possible to inadvertently lay tracks one on top of another without them joining properly. Delete and rebuild these sections. An error free route should look like this:

Jul-26-01, 11:48 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Recovery of a "Filed to load track database" error?" I read a thread on this somewhere else that worked for me, you have to go into the root directory of your route in windows explorer. They said to delete "myroute.rdb" and "myroute.tdb". (substituting, of course, the name of your route for "myroute".) I couldn't find any file with a .rdb extension in an extracted route, but I did find and delete the .tdb file, which apparently forces the "rebuild database to actually DO it instead of just acting dumb. Does the red marker over the switch indicate that the switch is properly installed or that there is a break in your route? I've been wrestling with this all night under the impression that when the red marker appears it means the switch is improperly installed. Am I wrong? I hope so because if what you are saying is correct I'll move forward with my route!

Aug-24-01, 01:18 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Recovery of a "Filed to load track database" error?" Red pole is fine. Seeing blue ones after the track is laid and 'supposed' to be connected is bad. Go forth and conquer. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
