RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

It won't even work on my machine. Half way through the MSTS start up screen, MSTS stops responding all together. I solved that problem easily... I deleted Marias31 from my routes folder. Sorry for being so facetious.Alex Hall

RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

Chuck, I never loaded xtracks, but after reading the post in the MSTS forum I said why not. I installed 3.3 and then 3.4 over it. OG has it listed in his post. It loaded fine and all the routes seem to work.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

LAST EDITED ON Dec-15-02 AT 01:33 PM (EST)

<<< EDIT TO CORRECT STEP LEFT OUT >>>Praise de Lord and Pass de Ammunition!
I done fixed it on my machine and I'll tell you how...
It may not work for you since I based it on the technically astute and time honored trouble shooting technique of shotgunning or "If you throw enough $hit against the wall some is bound to stick!"...Please Note:
Women and Small Children (Got that Zachattack? - ) may not want to read any further as this involves Unspeakable acts with Virgin Goats and Black Candles all done in the dead of the night (I think pineapples and coconuts were involved somehow also)!
Go away Sniper & quit drooling I did not take movies so you are S.O.L.)
As many have surmised it must be a problem with interaction between various packages stepping on each other...
So remembering a series of posts from one of the "Gods of Civil Engineering" ( This time I think the guilty party was Okrasa Ghia not Sniper) about Send/Don't send errors on MSTS load being caused by incompatibilities between the various tsection.dat files and add-on routes I figured that may be my problem...So I installed a totally clean MSTS with all routes installed and the only variation was changing the name of USA2.trk to USA2.trk.skip so it didn't load in the game but was still there for EZ-Stuffit to run against....
Then I did the following in sequence...1. install Joe Realmutto's friction mods to the rolling stock.>>>>> OOPS Forgot to add this <<<<
>>>>> 1.5 Install the MSTS 1.2 upgrades2. install the "mip fix" for track blurring.
3. install the "point animation" fix.
4. install modern track sounds.
5. install Sniper's 3d Tracks on default NEC and Marias
6. install concrete ties on NEC (AcleanTrak1.ace)
7. installed X-tracks for slugs (non-civil engineers) ver. 3.4
note: I installed this after MP31 before and IIRC it didn't work..
8. installed MP31 using all the default folder names in the installer. (RTFM Please)
8a. Burned Virgin Goat with Black Candle after committing unspeakable act with her...
8b. Walked widdershins around keyboard.
8c. Drew pentagram around keyboard.
8d. Loaded MSTS with out problems and went straight to explore routes on MP31 no problem....
9. Installed ModernEngland3F (another route that was giving me major gastrointestinal distress) and repeated 8a through 8d successfully)YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY!FWIW, I think OG's original comment some time ago about tsection.dat conflicts crashing the entire sim on load not just a route may apply to the problems some of us have been having and should be looked at....
Have a nice day gentlemen..

RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

Above pretty much what I did, would add that I also installed both TS "upgrade" versions from MS prior to installing Xtacks. (MIght work with TS v1.0, then again it might not. Don't know and don't want to find out.) Reinstalled Marias 3.1 and now the game loads and the route runs. From what I see, the game will not even function with Marias 3.1 installed and Xtracks NOT installed. I don't use Route Control or anything like that, its a WinXP Home plain vanilla MSTS job. I now have MP3, Marias31 and Marias 1948 in same TS installation. We'll see how it goes. Just happy to have MP31 up and running, it is by far my fav US route. Bing

RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

For what ever reason, kuju, in their infinite wisdom, has the program read the \global\tsection.dat file and all of the route track databases on start up. Any incompatibilities and it's send/don't send time. I haven't looked at the new Marias 3.1, but it sounds like it needs a newer version of the standardized \global\tsection.dat file than some people have. (Perhaps even a newer version that it says it needs?) If the route uses sections not listed in the \global\tsection.dat file there will be trouble.David Beach.Palouse & LewistonX-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely together – image 6Route Building 1% Completed

Standardized \global\tsection.dat file now at build00011.

RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

David, no that's not the problem exactly.Way back when, even before XTracks or the standard tsection.dat file, I updated my global tsection.dat to include the missing right hand manual switches, 250 radius curves and 2 skews. I forgot all about doing this.I used the switches in MP3.1 and included the shape files for them. I forgot about having changed my tsection. The standard tsection.dat file has these missing things in the same places that I do, so that's why installing a later xtracks or tsection gets rid of the problem.I keep a detailed list of changes I've made to MSTS and even go back and reinstall it from scratch and redo all the changes every few months, just to make sure I haven't missed anything. Even with all that, I still missed this.Bob Siederer

RE: X-Tracks 3.4 and Marias 3.1 not playing nicely toge

Yesssssss!!!!!!! I finally got it to work. After several frustrating hours trying to get Marias 3.1 to work on my machine and after reading many messages on this site, I concluded that I needed Xtracks and the new tsection.dat in order to make Marias 3.1 work. So, I installed xtracks and the tsection.dat file and tried running all the routes in MSTS (including Kickhorse Pass) before trying to install Marias 3.1. The routes worked fine... so I then installed Marias 3.1 and it worked like a charm. Here's what I did. 1 Backup MSTS (just in case)
2 Delete Marias 3 (If installed)
3 Download from Train-sim.com: tsection.zip (which is Build 00011) and xtracks.zip v3.4 (standard edition)
4. Install both as per insructions
5. Make sure MSTS is up-to-date ie. Version 1.2
6. Install Marias 3.1 as per instructionsHave fun! (Hopefully)Alex Hall
