When I open my route, check the re-build box, click ok, it instantly says "all tile visited". Which I know is impossible, because my route runs over 200 miles, with several large to medium yards, and a few branch lines. Rebuild works fine in Seattle, KHP, etc. Anybody know what could be the possible cause. Done all the delete's, followed Mikes instructions in the guide.MAX

RE: Track Database rebuild doesn't work.

Make sure that you did not delete ANY of the .W files in the \WORLD folder, or ANY of the .T files in the \TILES folder, or the .TRK file.If you did, restore them from your backup that you took just before trying to fix the initial problem and try again.Martyn T. Griffin

RE: Track Database rebuild doesn't work.

You will see that there are no DB lines above the track when "ALL world tiles visited" appears that quick. I have yet to find out why it does this. As everyone says "BACK UP BACK UP"

RE: Track Database rebuild doesn't work.

And the winner is...pennsyfan2. I must have missed laying the first piece of track in the route start tile by meters. I laid 6 more A3t500mstrt.s pieces toward the NE and it worked. Just I need to QC the whole route and make sure I didn't lose any of my Dynamic track.
I wonder where the camera positions itself when you slelect a start tile i.e. centered, in a corner etc. Cause I started laying track fairly close to where the camera was positioned, like I said must of missed it by meters. Thanks again pennsyfan2!

RE: Track Database rebuild doesn't work.

I don't remember where RGE places the camera initially within a tile. But you can control that location yourself in the route's .trk file. It contains a line like this one (taken from EUROPE1):RouteStart ( -6113 15054 -629.371 -962.07 )The first two numbers are the tile x and tile z (shown by RE's Camera window). The last two numbers are the x and z position within the tile (they range between -1024 ans +1024).So, to make your camera start up at a particular position in a tile, move the camera in the RE to that location, read off its x and z values, and insert these in the RouteStart line of your route's .trk file. You can change the tile x and tile z the same way, if you like. Remember to use WordPad, because the .trk file is in Unicode format.Michael Vone

RE: Track Database rebuild doesn't work.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-02 AT 03:51 PM (EST)

I have a 'list' of start addresses in my trk file, along with an indicator of where it is. Just make them comments and stick them at the end, past the last bracket. That way you can just copy and paste different locations as you move around from one work are to another. This is important when you are regularly shuting down RE to avoid problems. For example:

Comment ( RouteStart ( -12284 14125 -941 315 ) Downtown )
Comment ( RouteStart ( -12278 14124 118 -56 ) Tunnel A start )
Comment ( RouteStart ( -12276 14128 483 157 ) Tunnel B )
Comment ( RouteStart ( -12273 14129 99 -609 ) Tunnel B end )
