Hi folks. The key to any good looking route is going to be detail...and lots of it. I've received numerous E-mails from fine folks asking how to detail a route...thus why I write the rest here. The illusion of "much with little" is OK at times in the sim..but in a real life route, that theory does not always apply, and many objects are needed to give it the "real feel".For example...I've just completed a small, but significant object, a cable with a 250 pair bundle attached to a stand pipe, and a block connection box to the signal poles. You see them on CTC systems..they are everywhere. Also, I've built a small AFO Transmitter box for the crossing signal circuits. You'll also see custom crossing timbers at all the crossings.GM&O used a concrete whistle post too.All these little things make a "realistic feel" to a route.I've been learning TSM for this..and it works well...I just go there and whip something up when I need it.With that said..I feel it is essential to learn a modeling program, so you can create those small objects as needed. (I think David Klemm and Trouble Pryor, also apply this concept for the IC route)Now, alot of little things like this will zap frame rates..but it looks "SOOOOO GOOD" (as MR. FOOD says)I've come to the conclusion that I will continue on the path of low FPS, in hopes of a day when technology will advance to the state where the GM&O route can be run with ease, In which case...I'll re-work much of it and add more items to make it even more realistic. In doing this..the release date will be pushed back because of the intense scenery I plan to build (even though it's all flat land)That's my goal. I do appologize to the low-end users. This is why I have said from the start that this route will be hard on frame rates, so know one would be disappointed. Thanks again for your input..please feel free to comment further..I do listen to you input.
Paul...
