Hello, I been trying to build a small route for the first time and i cant figure out how to place buildings and water. In the placement window , I click on more and builings arent even listed on the list and either are bridges. Sorry for asking such a stupid question but how do I figure out how to place buildings ? also everything seems to been from a japenese line because I only have a choice of one tree and only japenese signals. Can anyone help me ? thanks
before you can place something it has to be known to your route. This means that 1. the shapes have to be in the shapes directory 2. the .ace file(s) have to be in the textures directory 3. an entry in the <route>.REF file If you only have 1. and 2. it won't show up without an error message. If you have 3. but are missing either 1 or 2 or both you'll get an error messageWerner
If you want those for your very first route, do the following:1.Delete the Shapes and Textures folders from your NEWLY created route.2.Go to a default route, eg. Marias (USA2), and copy:the shapes folder the textures folder the file marias.ref the file speedpost.ref the files sigscr.ref and sigcfg.ref3.Load the route editor. You now have the new speedposts, the entire Marias scenery and signal repertoire, and a whole fresh tablet to create a world!Hope that helps!!

The above method will get you the objects in the Marias Pass route only. If you want all the scenery objects from all six default routes, you need to download and run EZStuff. This will copy all the shapes and textures into your route folder. EZStuff also includes a "combined reference file" which has all the default objects in it. You simply replace your route .ref file with the combined file and rename it.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 track completed. Building roads and scenery)
combstuf.zip in the file library is old news, here's the latest stuffit:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d7f41c5199c3094.zip Download that, stuff your new route with all default objects, then when you're done creating a masterpiece, trim it down with Route Riter.
Look in the file library under tutorials for my tutorial on water placement. The filename is water.zip.A slightly abridged version of my tutorial along with dozens of other excellent tutorials is available at http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/Good luck.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 track completed.
