Without Benefit of heavy Lift Equipment, even without abutments, the B&B gang has managed to get the Copper Creek viaduct installed. The Masonry crew was found drunk on the streets in nearby Clinchport, and arrested, so now their work is cut out for them. As for the scenery gang - well, they got to move a whole lot of dirt---------.Attached are 3 pix of the bridge. I believe that those of you who are as familiar with this location as I am, will agree that the view from "US-23" looks quite convincing, and will be even more so when the V&SW is installed below this bridge. In addition, the view looking north, clearly shows the sheer rock cuts on the back of the bluffs immediately north of the bridge. As an aside, Brian Haye, one of my best friends, now working for a railway contractor was assigned the task of designing a reshaping of some of these bluffs a few years back. He did manage to remove a lot of loose rock, and there was some grouting of other material done, but there are still miles of slide fences in this area.J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired)
