At least K36487 (john) doesn't post in all caps ON MY GOSH I FOUND A NARROW GUAGE STEAM ENGINE!! hehehe. Go easy on him Adam. You may be just a year older than him but that doesn't make give you the right to be mean to him. He's new to train-sim, be nice. You should be excited that he likes NG stuff as much as you.Nick

And if those arent enough im working on yet another D&RGW route (based on a model railroad that was based on a prototype )
Right now im using the model railroad's name Rio Grande Southern, but im sure i can make a better one that that. The Location of my route is in Colorado, fitting for D&RGW/RGS. The main prototype is the RGS Ophir district. The model railroad is On3, but me not being a big fan of narrow gauge, im building the route in standard gauge.Any Progress of the Durango and Silverton – image 5

John,Sad to report that I finally exhausted all known previously effective delaying tactics in the matter of the replacement of the shower stall in the master bathroom. Just wait until you're about ten years older. I have been concentrating on road and streets and am just about finished with this task. Durango and Silverton are pretty accurately layed out, since so much of them are visible from railroad operations. All visible parts of US 550 are finished, as well as unimproved roads to Rockwood, Hermosa cemetary, Baker's Bridge, etc. Embarrassed to say that the RDB is about 2.5 times the size of the TDB now.I have been watching (and collecting) most of the stuff being uploaded very recently by folks like Dickey Tarkington and Don Brynelsen. Most fit right into Durango, with some being good for Silverton. You can help me be on the lookout for something to reasonably represent the depots at Durango and Silverton. Already got some for Hermosa and Tacoma.I see that you're already into the editors. Have a good time and don't let any of those big boys get on you. regards,
charlieEDIT: I did find a few hours this weekend to play with the uncoupling bug. Yeah, we can have it in Xtracks narrow gauge also. I think that the hypothesis that longer distances between track nodes could be the culprit is at play on the Silverton Branch. Clear problems on the runs from Durango to Hermosa and from Rockwood to Needleton; not much observable on the other shorter runs. At any rate, my NG stock has been refitted with the patented "2E08" couplers and returned to service.

RE: Any Progress of the Durango and Silverton

I never knew that anyone was making the Durango and Sliverton line. I was thinking of doing it but I am doing the RGS Route instead. You do not sem to be interesed it the Rio Grande Southern Route. Is that because it closed it 1953 and you only like lines that are open.Any Progress of the Durango and Silverton – image 6
The first train 486 worked for over 30 years and the first time it ever worked up to sliverton. At the 2000 railfest.

It is a Rio Grande Class K36. The BEST Narrow Guage trains ever built (or thats what I think!). Only 10 were built and 9 are left. Their are all working in colorado.Their have a power 36,000lb and their narrow gauge!

I agree! The D&RGW K-36 is the best narrow gauge steam locomotive ever built.
The K stands for mikado class (2-8-2)
The 36 stands for 36,000lbs of tractive effort. The D&RGW numbered them 480 to 489.All but number 485 survive. John

Listen K36487, you will have to calm down in these forums, It's not like in JR. High where you guys have all the time in the world. I'm a Sophmore in High School and I was like you last year, but you will have to be patient. One bad thing is we have other jobs outside of this game. I have to work at a golf cource, Fozzy tries to work, you will have to be patient. If you have msn messenger, contact me or e-mail me at riograndedude@hotmail.com
Or if you use AOL or have AIM, try TheRioGrandeDude.BTW I'm 15 and 11 months and am about to release my 85' XJ (for the peons, Jeep Cherokee) upon the WORLD! MUHAHAHAHA!
