This looks really great! US modellers have some great mountain scenery to use. It makes mainline running an adventure every time - a beautiful view around every corner. Can't wait to see the whole thing. Good luck!BTW, where is the pass located in the US?ozace50
Its in the central part of the State of New Mexico. It was built in the 1880s by the Santa Fe Ry - It follows the historic Santa Fe Horse/Oxen Wagon Trail which ran from Kansas City Missouri to to Santa Fe New Mexico.
Looking great and I am looking forward to it. I hope this includeds that neat "S" curve near Blanchard. Also, being a nasty old Southern Baptist, I hope you include a distant view of the SBC assembly ground just east of the pass. I believe a part of that property actually abuts to the AT&SF right of way, although the Interstate now cuts through it.J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired)
I will put the SBA facility in the route. The S curve at Blanchard will be there, however, I need to lay about 25 miles of track before I get there. I also am a Southern Baptist originally from Amarillo Texas. The route will run from Dalies/Belen/Islettta to Las Vegas including the Lamy to Santa Fe Branch. At that point I may consider putting in part of the Clovis sub from Belen to Vaughn to include the Abo Canyon.
ATSF: Nice..., very nice. My folks have lived in Santa Fe for over a decade now. It is entertaining to go to Glorieta and watch the Amtrak trains struggle over the pass. It is quite an effort for them. Every once in a while, especially during a snow, one will stall out and have to back down to get a better run at the hill. The stalls were most frequent when Amtrak first started running the express freight cars on the tail end. I wondered for a while who was calculating the added weight and what extra power was needed. Two F40s or two Genesis units were not really adequate for the SW Cheif and a dozen, ( or more ), express freight cars. Three units is much more entertaining. I look forward to driving your route. I have hiked the route from Lamy to Las Vegas. It will be fun to run the route. Thanks again. dsngrr_473
