go into placement mode, go to the placement window, then choose "More...". Select "Mainline Stations" from the object classes and then "Siding" or "Yard" from the drop box. Place this at the start of a siding, then select the move tool to drag it across the track you'd like to be a siding. To name the siding, right-click it and give it a name. Same goes for the "Platform" name in the object class drop box.*~þHÃt*Rat~**~classic american playa~* www.atlanticsystem.tkSkinner #2 at Atlantic System

To the above I would also add however, that there is a finite length, beyond which the siding/station namer won't stretch. In working with TCS equipped railways, it is normal for a siding to be named, for example, Roanoke, (there is such a siding in Louisiana on the BNSF out near Lafayette). In this situation (but it is not a TCS siding) you could have a East Roanoke, and a West Roanoke.Sometime back R. Lamp put a CTC bungalow in the file library, and once I got the hang of how this thing worked, I was able to replicate it as many times as I needed, and put a correct name on each one. I also put the "North", and "South" designation on TCS sidings. Thus at Poplar, NC, there is a North Poplar, and a South Poplar. This siding is about 1.5 miles long, and the name device would only stretch about 1/3 of the length.J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired)
That sounds like what I'm dealing with. Currently, my railroad has one major mine (two service tracks, holds about 20 34ft hoppers total.) and a three track fiddle yard. Now, even though there's half a mile of mainline between the mine and its corresponding fiddle yard, I had to name the different yard tracks "Kentucky Coal Track 1, Track 2, and Overflow Track." among other things. Now, that i've started adding a NG interchange, I'm having to lable the different parts of the NG yard and sidings. It's getting complicated, but the effect is very nice.
Yep, that is about 40 miles west of me. I haven't been over that way in a few years. An interesting thing about the east end of the siding was that when they extended the siding they did not move the signal. the went around it with the track. Very odd looking.Kevin Arceneaux gdapia
