RE: OK, September's come and gone...

Hmmm....
Seems I've got to start checking this forum more carefully...
Last post I recalled about the NEC v4 was the one back in April (I think) where you said it would most likely be ready in September...
Don't know how the monhly updates have slipped my eyes but they must have...

RE: OK, September's come and gone...

Boy this is the kindling for a flame war if i ever saw one. your are just asking to get your butt chewed out with a post like that. from now on, i would STRONGLY think about what you say before you post, and anticipate people's reactions here. I can guarentee you people will jump all over you if you post things such as this...btw these people do this stuff for FREE. If it comes out one month early or three months late, it's still free, if you are that impatient, learn how to do route editor and do it yourself, otherwsie wait and it'll come. also do note: THESE PEOPLE HAVE LIVES OTHER THAN MSTS! TRAINS ARE,FUN AND ALL DON'T GET ME WRONG, BUT ALOT OF US HERE HAVE SCHOOL, COLLEGE, OR JOBS AND HAVE NOT MUCH TIME TO DEDICATE TO MSTS. SOMETIMES WE NEED A BREAK FROM MSTS AND DO OTHER THINGS!

RE: Get a clue, moron.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-02 AT 01:50 PM (EDT)

I admit, I was a bit pissed (but not anymore)at the post after reading it on Saturday evening after spending 13 hours in the route editor. I do remember now way back posting something along the lines of "I'll TRY to get this out sometime in September".
I did not realize then the amount of time it takes to lay in protypical scenery. It's hard work and I want to get it right the first time. Little things like making sure there are no floating buildings and trees for instance. (and there are still some of those to fix)
After each days work I run a test activity through the area I just planted checking for visual no-no's, make notes and correct them the next day. So ladies and gentelmen, please be patient, I'm working hard at this. Kase, to answer your question. No, there was no version 3 released. It WAS a combination of two upgrades by Bill Knowles version 2.1 and Andy Pratt's version 2.2, both of them also not released. There were distribution problems caused by Sky Conductor files in both these versions.
Since I was planning at the time to upgrade the entire Northeast Corridor I then decided to combine Andy's and Bill's routes and call it version 4.
Version 4 is a completely reworked Northeast Corridor with extensive track changes to the original KUJU/Microsoft route. Close to 50 yards have been added, mainline switches changed to 5 and 2.5 degree units.
All mainline switches are automatic. All yard switches are manual.Yesterdays marathon bout in the editor completed all the scenery along the Wilmington bypass. Yikes, placing most all of the city of Wilmington Delaware was a LOT of work but it was worth it. It looks real good.Today (Sunday) I continue working north along the CSX mainline from the Wilsmere yard in Wilmington. About 30 track miles to go to the end of the line in Philadelphia.
Back to pounding spikes.

>(hint to developers: DON'T post release dates when you're

I wouldn't blame Vince in the least if he said the hell with it after your post.*I* don't have the patience or know-how to do a route, so there is NO way in hell I am going to post such a blatant display of childish impatience as you did. While I don't have the know-how, I certainly DO know that unexpected delays occur, especially when dealing with something as finicky as the MSTS Route Editor. And Vince HAS been posting updates quite regularly with what he has been experiencing. So chill out, and stop posting your childish, impatient drivel.
