To All:Well... I've tried a couple of the Old West buildings by Railbaron, and they will not be recognized by my RE. I was able to successfully place a depot that was already in the "More Objects" window, as well as a Ponderosa Pine. (Both were part of the objects supplied with the CTSRR route I'm piddling with.)I also installed a building that was from another creator, and it was able to be placed in RE. BTW, it had a .thm file. The last Railbaron building I tried to install was first installed without using the supplied .thm file: No "Thumbnail" appeared in the "More Objects" window. After installing the supplied .thm file, a thumbnail appeared. However, it too, was for naught as I got the "Failed to find blank.ace" and "Failed to load shape file" error windows.Has ANYONE been able to use Railbaron's "Old West" series buildings? I really, really, could use these and have HIGH hopes for them. I just wish I knew what was wrong.Railbaron... any input or help here? Pretty please?Andre

RE: No Joy

To put an end to the .thm file mystery, that is the MSTS version of a thumbnail picture. If you go into the RE Object Selector and check the 'Show thumbnails' option, MSTS will use these to show the little picture beside the object description. If it doesn't exist, it will be created by RE on the fly. Once it is made, it will be re-used from that point on. If you delete it, it will just get reused again.I NEVER install .thm files from other systems. The reason is it may NOT represent the item as it currently is built. While testing a partially built object, the thm gets created and then all of the subsequent changes to the object are not reflected in the picture, since it doesn't get rebuilt. So, you can delete EVERY thm file anytime you want, and the next time you use the object selector with the option checked, it will create them as needed. As to your other problem, take an entry of a similar object that works in RE and modify ONLY the filename in the .ref file to be that of the new problem object. Then try placing it in RE.If it works, your issue is local to your entry in the .ref file. Otherwise there is something about your setup and/or the object definition files that are suspect.Martyn T. Have no message from you. But it is possible that my inbox rules trashed it, especially if you weren't specific about what it was in the subject.Martyn T. Griffin

Andre
Checked with the Baron are you running the very first Golden Eagle?
If so you'll need to DL the one currently in the library, the first posting was huge on the poly count and Don later uploaded the revised GE saloon the problem you're describing sounds like version 1
