Jul-23-01, 01:48 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Slowly getting there.....but........." LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-01 AT 01:49 PM (EST)That looks quite normal to me, I think every crossover with the switches connected directly looks that way in the activity-editor. (try comparing with an original route, you can also select a trackpiece in an original route and use properties to see what they used).. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-23-01, 02:40 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Slowly getting there.....but........." Ok, we're still in the activity-editor now:First, ofcourse you have to setup a path that passes one of the crossover switches (Startpoint, direction etc.). Now the path shows up as passing the switch along simple way, you simply right-click on the round controlpoint for the switch and select the proper option ("take other exit", I think it called). If you are in real trouble with the activity I suggest you look into the activity editor forum on this board Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-24-01, 00:52 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Slowly getting there.....but........." The signals available to a route reside in SIGCFG.DAT and the associated scripting logic resides in SIGSCR.DAT.The signal objects must be manually placed using the Route Editor. Choose the category "Track Objects" to see them. You may need to edit or redo the default signal files since they're somewhat generic in nature. There is documentation on writing Signal and Signal Script files in your TechDocs folder. When you use the proper track object signal, the Route Editor will force you to link the signal with a switch before you can save the route map. The links property page has one or two tabs named "Signal" when you select the object properties, and it draws one of those pink and green shapes on the track. One quirk of the user interface is the signal shape doesn't align facing oncoming train traffic. The shape may be turned 90 degrees sideways. If you forget to set this up before trying to configure the switch links, the switch links screen will not highlight switch paths in red or green. It allows you to scroll around and click things, but you never see a red or green line.Once you know what the red and green selection lines should look like, you'll know whether you really linked the switch or not and can avoid trying to save a map with the "Links aren't configured" messages.Jim Steven, MCSE

Jul-24-01, 02:34 AM (EST) 8. "RE: Slowly getting there.....but........." Ian loadup one of the other routes, maybe Marias Pass and look to see what pieces are used in those. This will tell you if you have the correct pieces or not. Also be sure to check and make sure those track pieces are connected. The best way to do this is turn on track db lines in the route editor.
