This route is aimed at testing A.I. train behaviour on different types of switches.
Mainly meant for activity specialists, includes some activities to play around in Activity Editor and MSTS.
There are two separate but completely identical (mirrored) routes included, one for each type of switch.
- Activity 1 includes A.I. trains in both directions on both routes, here you can see that the player train seems to get different priorities on different switch types under the same circumstances (but not always?).Also nice to see is that if you wait longer at the start (about 10 minutes) or at the siding (5 minutes) you will meet the oncoming trains on different places.
This seems to have to do with MSTS dispatcher looking at the next 3 signals, as I have read once, for his decisions.Sometimes there seem to be some placement errors on the manual switch route...In one automatic version the A.I. train starts one second later than the player and has to wait, in the other it starts at the same time and the player has to wait.
In the manual version the A.I. starts at the same time and it has to wait...- Activity 2 just tests what happens if 5 trains are started at the same time in a terminal with no other traffic ahead. The A.I. trains start in the sequence they are entered into the timetable, even if they have the exactly same starting time. The player train always gets priority.I also included waiting points.
In the Editor the trains wait for the specified time. In MSTS A.I. trains just stop for a moment and then go on (maybe because the next signal is showing red for it anyway?), the player just gets a yellow signal until he passes the waiting point, then the signal becomes green. I tried to wait if it turned red after a while and other trains get the permission to go on, but this didn't happen (although it happended once on the Signal Test Route in a similar situation, but there was no waiting point involved). So test away, maybe you'll find out some more things!Greetings,
Roni
