Just so all of you know, I didn't spend my entire fall break on the computer messing with MSTS. I actually got out and did some real railroading as well. However, during the small time I did spend in MSTS, here are the thoughts that went through my mind: I am to the point where I have brought in all my DEM generated terrain, and I decided it was time to bite the bullet and start dropping some ballast, ties, and steel. I put 2 miles in, and now I'm starting down the first 1.5% grade. Up to this point the line is fairly straight, but pretty soon (around MP 4 or so) I'm going to start running into a lot of curves. Now how is the best way to go about it? 1. Do I lay the entire mainline first, then go back and put in switches, sidings, and the yard? Or should I try to account for these things early on?2. What advantages are there of using Xtracks rather than MSTS stock track? Will it be easier for me to navigate the line in the direction I want? (All I have as my guide is just a lengthy marker file generated by third party software...)3. How does TS Terraform help in creating a route? I've read descriptions of it, but it looks very complex. Where exactly does it fit in? 4. What else might make my life easier, that I maybe haven't thought of yet?Any input appreciated.- dispatcher618
