Just finally got in the testing stages on the 1st Street Bridge. After fighting with the disappearing object bug while positioning components I finally got the pieces together in the RE and ran a test train through it.The kit includes the 390ft double deck swing span, the two sizes of approach spans, piers, end pier, and the two elevated hughway sections as best as can be determined from the Terraserver pic.I'll do some more testing and refining and should have it uploaded in a few days as 1ststbrd.zipSRV Ron

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Ron;Beautiful piece of work. Your comment about the disappearing object, how did you fix that? Did you build this with TSM? I've got some objects that are doing the same thing to me. I'm trying the vector fix to help grab them, but they still disappear from certain angles. Thanks

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Bridges are ok as I make sure that the objects are centered before creating in TSModeler. The disappearing problem is a RE thing that when you use east, west compass headings and attempt to move the object with the arrow keys, it goes into never never land.If the origin point is not centered, objects will vanish when viewed close up. They are still there. Solution for something like towers was to create an anchor underground so the bounding box would form correctly. no more vanishing object close up.This project was spread over two weeks. I use a lot of pre fab parts so bridges go together quickly in TSmodeler.Way past bedtime if I want to be up by 5:00am for workSRV Ron

Ron,
That is a fantastic piece of work. Would you like to bid on another project? A cantilever road bridge of web-girder design. I think you've seen the pictures...Cal Rasmussen

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Is it the one in New York? That one may be hard to keep under 5000 polys.Oh, I made an unscheduled stop during my road calls today. I will have to go back when I have more time to talk with the breeder about these cute little ones and work out a purchase agreement.SRV Ron

Ron,
That is really impressive, even though it is 10pm it looks like I am standing on the rivers edge a few miles down the road here.

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Just uploaded 1stStBrd.zip to the library after fixing a small texture bug in the approach pier. It should be available in a few days. This upload will require texture files from SRVBrdR1.zip There are two additional custom textures in the 1stStBrd.zip that are used in detailed cross braces and the narrow 2 lane highway. The complete bridge contains a custom approach pier, span pier, the two lengths of truss spans, the swing span, and the East and West elevated roadway. There are additional seperate road pieces for route builders who use this bridge in fictional locations.SRV Ron

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

David,
I do not think that really matters, if you put on a fictious route it could be the 1st street bridge. But you are correct it is the "I" street bridge."Keep on Trucking by Train"Erik Pierson

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Just got home from work. Did some cleaning up out back before dark.Send me the specs and pics on the Dallas bridge. I'm up to the challange.I will work on a quick project tonight. I plan to model the pilings and seawall for the I street Bridge for the two routes planned. I can use the Terraserver pic for size. The texture is already available. The minature filly, pic in reply 10, is about 6 months old. There is also a sharp looking colt out there as well. Need a pair so they can keep each other company when I'm working.SRV Ron

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Ron, I know taking care of horses are alot of work, where do you manage to find all of your time? You have work, animals and train sim. I just have work(although that accounts for 12 to 20+ hours a day) and train sim and I am all tuckered out by 11pm when I pass out and drool on the keyboard.

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Right now, there are no animals. The horse of 34 had a stroke New Years day and had to put him down. The old Shetland pony was 40 when her age and lung infection did her in a week ago Sunday.Minatures should be quite interesting and won't need anywhere as much to feed as a horse. But, they are sure tiny compared to even the Shetland pony.Of course, not much route building has been done this year. Bridges have been the subject and tending to the needs of the old pony.I need to finish the HO module upgrade for the Delta Collage swap shop October 20th. May have the minitures the following week if all goes well.I'll E-Mail the pilings and seawall when done and tested.SRV Ron

RE: 1St Street Bridge Complete

Well Bill you are in luck. We at SLW are making the SP route from Oakland,Ca to Sacramento,Ca. This route will be double tracked nearly the whole way. In Oakland we will be including the Oakland Mole ferry building, the Albers Mill and Kraft Corrugated steel among others on the Oakland Pier, the 16th street station with the elevated transit tracks and interlocking tower, and the interchange with AT&SF, just to name a few. On our way to Sacramento we will pass through Emeryville, Berkeley, Richmond, Crockett(where the C&H Sugar plant is), Martinez, Fairfield(interchange with SN), Davis, West Sacramento (another interchange with the SN) and finally Sacramento, just to name a few stations. In the Sacramento area we will be including the Depot and yard complex including our namesake the real Sacramento Locomotive Works.

Pdave1, who is doing the Donner route plans to include this bridge in his route as well."Keep on Trucking by Train"Erik Pierson

Suisun Bay Bridge

Now you just need a model of the Suisun Bay drawbridge. I might too, if I ever decide to work on my modern-day Cal-P route.1St Street Bridge Complete – image 14
