I am amazed that after just four posts that you have pics of a route already. Either you pay attention to the forums or you're one heck of a person for jumping into the route editor. As far as your route is concered... I am curious why the land is so flat? I drove through Ridgway a few days ago and I know its not that flat. At least where the RGS is. Why not narrow guage? If you are really serious about doing the route the right way, please put in narrow guage track. Before too long you'll have lots of cars to run over it. I PROMISE!! I don't know of too many RGS sites. Most the ones I know of just have details about the cars that ran over them. Not much route detail.Good Luck and are you from around Ridgway?Nick

RE: Rio Grande Southern
I am not doing it with narrow gauge track because their is no rolling stock or locos for Narrow Gauge track and the other narrow gauge is normal gauge...Rigeway is not finshed I know that I do need to kake it more hiller and I need to do that in a lot of other places too.I need to change alot of texutes on the hills. At the moment I have put the track nor up to mileposr 17.2 Just after the passing loop at sam...I know that I need to put alot more hills in...But as I live awhere near Rigeway I have once been near there and I have been to Durango.I am useing the RGS Story books for all my info.
Hello>I am not doing it with narrow gauge track because their is no >rolling stock or locos for Narrow Gauge track and the other narrow >gauge is normal gauge...Like I mentioned before YOU WILL HAVE SOME SOON!! I am personally working a lot of narrow guage stuff. It just hasn't been released. There is NG stuff in the file library. Look for anything under the Sumpter valley railroad and you'll see it.I beg you to reconsider making the track narrow guage. By the time you are near the end of your route, lots of narrow guage stuff will be released and you'll smack your head saying "why did I make it standard guage." >Rigeway is not finshed I know that I do need to kake it more hiller >and I need to do that in a lot of other places too.Need to make it hiller? It should be hilly if you used the proper DEM data? did you? or are you just making the terrain as you go? YIKES!!I hope that I am helping and not bothering you. The RGS is going to be a tough route to make, and being very familiar with the area I just want to see it done well. That way you don't get a barage of emails saying "why wasn't this route done this way."Nick

RE: Rio Grande Southern
I might do one version on version in narrow gauge track and also a version in normal gauge track. But first I will do the normal gauge first.I do not think it will take me that long to change the track to narrow gauge track..Will you do any RGS locos if so what ones? And where do you get the DEM data from because my only source of infomation is photos maps and text in the RGS Story... I did download a few maps is the area...I am half making up the terrain I have tryed to get it as good as possible. If I had more infomation I would use itI downloaded the Sumpter Valley Railway Narrow-gauge Flatcars to repaint into DRGW and RGS but I have not yet got round to it.Where Sumpter Valley Railway go from...I have repainted the normal track to look like narrow gauge track as you can see in the screen shot belowe. You can always e-mail if you want on: jonathanmlewis@msn.com
>>Will you do any RGS locos if so what ones?Well we are working on cars first. The steam engines seem to take way too long. >>I downloaded the Sumpter Valley Railway Narrow-gauge Flatcars to >>repaint into DRGW and RGS but I have not yet got round to it.I also was going to tackle these some day . I too had been putting it off and looking for the time to do it.I'll have to email you about the DEM. Nick

RE: Rio Grande Southern
Why I started doing it normal gauge is because the K36 and all the RGS stuff is (was) in normal gaugeI will do two version of the route on normal gauge and one narrow gauge.I do not think it will take me that long to relay the to narrow gauge after I have layed first.I repainted the normal track to took like narrow gauge track as you can see in the image belowe: Where can I find the proper DEM data because all I have is a few small scale maps and some photos from the RGS Story...I am half making it up but if i can find a image I will use that to help. Will you make any RGS locos if so what numbers. You can e-mail me at: jonathanmlewis@msn.com
