These are a few pictures of a route I'm working on.It's nothing major, to be honest, I'm using it to learn some techniques and test others. Size wise, well this railroad will surprise you. I won't tell you the exact size, in fact, I'd like you to guess. mileage that is.
Ok, maybe not. For some reason I can't get the pictures to work currently. In a bit, I'll upload them to another website and link from there

OK, I think I have to change the resolution on the pics. This may be a while.

RE: Unnamed route.

Posting pics is easy, providing your firewall doesn't interfere with the process.1. use Click here to choose file. A window appears.2. Be sure to check the jpg option. It defaults to HTML.3. Nortons and some other firewalls will block uploading. Temporary disable it.4. Select your prepared picture using the browse command and upload. The pic will appear when you post your message.SRV Ron

RE: Unnamed route.

heh. That's not the problem. The pics are huge and high detail. Normally, when I was uploading as Starlight, I had a con speed above 50 k. Now, i'm down to 24.4. So, unless I dial down the res, I can't upload.

RE: Unnamed route.

Process them in your paint program and save as jpg. Must be under 100k or the server won't accept them.I mention the firewall because I have Norton's which blocks uploading pics to this forum.SRV Ron

RE: Unnamed route.

Ok, these pics follow one of those wonderful southern locomotives around as it goes about its switching duties. The unscenicked places are temporarily named "Track's End" because obviously, it's at the end of the line. And, no that's not a tile edge, I have the visibility dialed down really low because even on my system, this line eats the FPs.The techniques used in this line are in order: View blocks, (you can never see more than 1 tenth of the line at any time, advanced placement. Just because you think something should be there, doesn't mean it is. A good example is in the scrap yard. If you look at things from cab level, you can't tell that there's no road leading into the scrap yard doesn't exist. There's a few other things that i've hidden in the game. Including one private joke.
There are no grades, and any hills are actually simulated by manipulating the trees themselves. If you like taking pics of your trains, this will be the line for you.

RE: Unnamed route.

I'll be taking more pics soon, there's so much in that railroad that I'm hard pressed to show all of it and do it justice. I do have some track to take up and fix. While some people may hate me for it, I've found that in places, dynamic track can be a lifesaver. Take the scrapyard track (not pictured) for example. The curve is so sharp, that without a dynamic curve (as used in the oil company) the train can't make the curve. I can actually open the curve radius up a bit with dynamic track.

RE: Unnamed route.

You might be surprised to know that it's listed in the Marias pass clutter file. Just look for "Sleeper Debris" they are great for making disused sidings

RE: Unnamed route.

Well, I fixed the curves, now the train doesn't bind while going into them. I'll be finishing up the industrial park area next. (the unscenicked area). The only problem I have right now is deciding what to put where. Heh. It's a shame I can't upload this at present. But (like I said before) I'm getting dsl soon, so I may make it available.
