Does anyone know what it means when generating terrain buffers an error message appears:
"FAILED TO LOAD MATERIAL PALLETTE"
I have been attempting for two days to get this route to work, I don't know whats wrong, maybe its the installme.bat. This is the first route that I have had these kind of problems. I have followed the installation instructions to the letter. I have XTracks 3.3 "Unzip files 1-5 to the routes directory, creating Usa_NJC dir."
"Run Installme.bat in usa_NJC"After unzipping file #1 into routes dir., I unzip the other 4 files to the routes directory also, is this correct? Or do I unzip the other 4 to the usa_NJC directory? Then I run the installme.bat in the usa_NJC folder...correct?
When the installer finishes what should the last line be.Thanks everyone for your help

Newark & Jersey City RR… Question?, material pallet – image 2

I've also been trying for a couple of days! Someone will probably hopefully come along soon with answers! Here's my details:Recently downloaded the Newark and Jersey City Railroad. The html read me called for Xtracks 3.1 or later. Installed Xtracks 3.2. Ran MSTS (Port Ogden) to see if Xtrack installation had caused a problem. No problem I could see ... except I believe saved activities are no longer valid. Followed instructions to the letter with regard to installation: Unzip folders (Not “files” to MSTS route folder. Expected directory was created. Ran Installme.bat until that program was done. ("Finished" in the DOS (sigh) title bar)
Tried to run the route from within TS ... buffer generation ... do dah do dah ... very nice ... then error messages:no extended shape data for A1t250r 1 0d.s
Failer to open texture file
global\texture\ACleanTrack2.ace
Failer to open texture file
global\texture\ACleanTrack1.aceShape failed to load A1t250r10d.sNo extended shpaed data for A1t250r10d.sIn each instance, opted to continue ... route opened ... train I’d selected ready to go ... began rolling ... entered hard frozen lock up in short order.Deleted route ... reinstalled. Same error messages. Downloaded again. Reinstalled again. Same error messages. Backed out (of MSTS) came back in and tried for the “test” activity. “Parent track monitor not found” error message. Back at desk top.All default routes in place ... except NEC 1 ... use NEC 2 here ... this should not be a problem ... still called Usa1. Since literally thousands of successful downloads of this new route have occurred here ... like I keep finding myself saying at the bank, I’m sure this is my error ... I just can’t figure out where I’m going wrong. All other routes consists activities going fine (I’m up to four cabooses on the Caboose Round up Activity on the Port Ogden) By the way have you noticed on the PO&N RR longitude and latitude map available for this activity (find the caboose) the numbers across the top go from -108.35 to -108.40 to -108.30? I’m figuring (probably incorrectly) the first number might be -108.40. As someone who uses all kinds of magnifiers and enjoys what my wife calls the “Fly on the Billboard” syndrome (plastered to details and missing the big picture) I’d given myself extra trouble figuring things out on the supplied (confusing) map. But that’s another story. Have I given enough information to get help with my error messages on the NJC RR?Respectfully
jivajiva

Hi Jiva,Check your Train Simulator\Global\Shapes folder and see if
A1t250r10d.s and A1t250r10d.sd are there? From the above it would seem one or the other is missing or garbled. This should have been installed with X-Tracks. Testing MSTS with Port Ogden would not have helped you by the way, it does not use X-Tracks.

:)Checking ...The former file is there ... the latter is not. I will re download and reinstall the latest X tracks. I agree ... these files looked to me like X tracks specials. I THOUGHT X tracks looked pretty much the same in Port Ogden !! I was thinking, "Is this what all the fuss is about? Looks pretty much the same to me!" (Fly-on-billboard syndrome!)To other helpful posts here ... I did not ask this question before or see it elsewhere. NJC RR advises to log onto this board with questions. I see where someone else has a post on this topic ... I added my question ... other poster did not mention testing with Port Ogden ... but did mention this very good one: “Should Folders (called "files" in instructions) be unzipped to Routes folder or within created NJ folder. This question has kind of been answered both ways here ... ie "yes," (in the overlooked basic error) and "correct."Will reinstall X tracks ... hmmm ... Maybe yours truly needs to get a little work done before continuing on this path! Up until 3 this morning on this stuff ...Thanks for fast helpful answers. I will post results as learned. Yikes! Here comes the Boss! Respectfullyjivajiva

LAST EDITED ON Sep-28-02 AT 05:55 AM (EDT)

I posted a reply to your earlier post about what I did when I got the same error message. Since you started a new thread with the same problem I have to assume: a.) you didn't see my other post, or b.) you saw it, tried it, and it didn't work. Which is it?When you create a post like this and somebody replies to it with a possible answer to your problem, if you try what that person suggests and it doesn't work, the best thing to do is to reply back to that person stating what happened when you tried it, instead of ignoring that post and re-posting the same problem all over again. That way I can see what happened when you tried the suggestion and possibly offer further assistance, or another person can see what's happening and offer their solution, and so on.... Then you try the next possible solution, and if it doesn't work....etc....Now we're just starting over again.I or somebody else can probably work you through your problem if you let us know what happened when you tried the offered solution. I've probably been down the same road you have with this thing as have many other folks on this forum. We're here to help.>After unzipping file #1 into routes dir., I unzip the other 4 files to the routes directory also, is this correct?Yes, this is correct.>Then I run the installme.bat in the usa_NJC folder...correct?
When the installer finishes what should the last line be.Yes that's correct also. I don't know about the last line in the DOS window because I have Windows XP Home and when I get done running the batch file the window closes on it's own. You might try opening a seperate DOS window and then running the batch file manually through that, or even booting windows to a DOS screen and running it manually that way. Here's a couple questions for you.1. Do you have any other Xtracks-based routes installed? PO&N is not Xtracks based, so it is not a good gauge to measure Xtracks installation with. Whoa Sniper, put away that flammenwerfer, I just said it's not a good gauge for measuring Xtracks installation, not that it isn't a good route. Down boy.
2. If yes, do they work ok?
3. If no, did you install the latest build of the Standardized tsection.dat file? Xtracks won't work without that.
4. Do you still have all 6 default routes installed? Not Marias 3.0 in place of the original, and not NEC 2 in place of the original, but the out-of-the-box MS/Kuju routes.I would suggest if the answer to #1 is no, that you install the Xtracks test route which is available in the file library. It's a lot smaller to install and open than NJC and if it works then I'd bet your next paycheck that NJC will work too.Jeff Leslie

Eric,
Seems everyone overlooked the mistake you made.
After unzipping file #1 into the Route directory, You should unzip the other 4 files into the usa_NJC directory, then run the batch file.
Let me know how this works for you My Computer specs are in my profile

Ho Kay! Downloaded the latest version of X tracks ... installed same ... tested track on Marias Pass ... no problem ... and then ... and then ... having done nothing new at all to the previously not really accessible NJC RR ... gave her (or him) a try ... and ... and ... well ... you know how wonderful it is. That was my problem. Improper X track installation. I think ... maybe previously I’d only installed an update to Xtracks without previously installing the entire XTrack enchilada. Is that possible? (Burp). And I would be remiss if I did not post here and thank all before sinking into another happy new adventure in MSTS. It even looks like Sky!Conductor is already somehow active on this new route.Ah!jivajiva (the happy)
