Will msts allow a working transfer table? The later map of the sac yard has one on the east side of the shops, and would make a neat activity moving equipment in and out of the shopsDave
Dave, I believe on one hand it may be possible. But I do not think you would be able to drive an engine onto it and move it because it would break the path. Any one else? The Sacramento yard actually had 3 transfer tables at one time."Keep on Trucking by Train" "Your freight goes great with Great Northern."Erik Pierson Sacramento, Ca www.sacramentolocomotiveworks.comBringing 1940s Southern Pacific to the digital age.
Graphically many things are possible, including wonders not yet discovered. So it may well be possible for a clever model builder to produce a transfer table with a moving transfer track. But that's just the graphics. The track database doesn't give squat about what the graphics show, it does its own thing. And its own thing does not include moving track paths. So when that clevel model builder runs a locomotive out onto the transfer track, and the transfer track moves, the locomotive will just sit there, suspended in midair quite likely, until it is given a bit of throttle and it is moved forward or reverse off of the (now moved) transfer track and back onto terra firma.Build the model and wait for MSTS 2.0 to see if they get a few more things right without breaking anything.David Beach.Palouse & Lewiston

Would it help to say that I sent a feedback e-mail to the folks at the MSTS designers saying that I'd appreciate working transfer tables and roundhouses.I really hoping they know what I mean! lol------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!

You know. Y'all got me thinking about something.I don't know if it was addressed, but A while back I wondered if it'd be possible to have a working draw bridge. Kinda like a bascule bridge or something. Now, knowing all I do (which ain't much but is enough) I bet you could do it. Basically your track would have to actually be an alpha channel, meaning that while it's there. It's /not/ there. (clear)Then, you'd have to have a bridge which when raised would activate a signal for trains to stop. Raising could be based off of ships (running on a track like the trains and tying the bridge in like a level crossing) or activated by the player. Now, for added fun, you could have a switch activated by this bridge, (also clear and on the main track) that would open as the bridge was raised. This switch, leading to no where, would cause the train to derail off the bridge quite realistically if the bridge were opened when the train went across. It's just a thought
