Help! I recently downloaded Xtracks for the Metra Route I’m working on. I followed the instructions the best I could. Now however, when I open the list of track in RE, all the new tracks that have concrete in there name show no thumbnail. When I try to place one, I get a message that says “No extended shape data for A1t1000r10Concrete.s” When I click Yes to Continue I get a message that says “Failed to open shape file Global\Shapes\A1t1000r10dConcrete.s” When I click Yes it says “Shape failed to load. A1t1000r10dConcrete.s” After I click Yes the message disappears and I am back were I started-No Track! The same happens when I try to place any track file starting with u. I also cannot find the roundhouse and other buildings I read about, although may have missed it. I was a little surprised nothing about a REF file was mentioned. If you have had the same problem and know how to fix it, PLEASE reply. Thanks! Nothing mentioned about a REF file cuz track sections don't use the REF file, the \Global\Tsection.dat file is the equivalent of a REF file for track and roads. If you have thumbnails enabled and there's no picture, that means the object menu can't find the .s or .sd file in \Shapes. In this case it woulf be \Train Simulator\Global\Shapes, you need to look in there and see if "A1t1000r10Concrete.s" and A1t1000r10Concrete.sd" are in \Train Simulator\Global\Shapes. If not, they need to be found and copied there.
those concrete tracks are listed in the standardized tsection file thats why they show up in the editor list you can ignore them or down load the concrete tracks... this problem will continue to show up as new track sections are added to the standardized tsection .. the user will have to download the tracks or be very careful when picking track sections to lay mass confusion in the making ???Patm41 Maglev Route Designer Casino Express
Repeat after me, "Xtracks is not the Standardized \global\tsection.dat file" and "The Standardized \global\tsection.dat file is not Xtracks". Repeat until you are mumbling it in your sleep. Now that we have that straight, Xtracks is one of many packages of extended track collections that uses the standardized \global\tsection.dat file. It may still be the largest, but by the next release of the standardized file it won't be, the UK Fine Scale track package will be.If you turn thumbnails on, and you don't get one for a track section, it likely means that you don't have that section. If it is a section that you think you really want to use, open the \global\tsection.dat file in wordpad, find the .S file name, find the name of the contributor for the section that .S file is in, then find the contact information for the contributor near the top of the file. The whole tsection.dat/track database mess is one horrific kluge that kuju threw together without any thought for how it might get used in the real world. The price that we pay for something like the standardized file, (which is the only way that extended sections from multiple sources can coexist on the same machine without having to swap files around) is that everybody who uses it has to see the reference to all the files it lists.Maybe MSTS V2.0 (someday, don't hold your breath) will have a better way. Until then, know which packages you have, use thumbnails as a reference, and don't expect to use files you have not downloaded yet.David Beach.Palouse & Lewiston
The concrete track sections are not part of XTracks. I belive you can download those from the file library. All the track sections starting with a 'u' (that is UK Narrow Gauge and UK Fine Scale tracks) can be found over at UKTrainSim.com. To use the roundhouse you must add a texture-file to your routes texture folder (same thing with Teemus bridges). Look in the 'ROUTE BUILDERS' folder of your XTracks download, there you find a 'textures' folder, copy it to your routes folder. After this you should be able to use the roundhouse, you find it as 'a1t30mRoundhouse'. If you know you won't be using some of the track sections in the standardized tsection.dat you can remove those entries from your personal copy of tsection.dat but don't re-distribute such a hacked file or you could cause much problem to the unknowing user.
