Is it possible to change the default setting on a turnout? The 30 degree tram "Y" defaults to a left, although indicating a right on the track monitor. I have used them in several locations, but it always requires the operator to throw the switch manually to stay on the proper route. Is there a setting in the .s file that can be modified to accomplish this? Dave
The setting is in the tsection.dat and is the same for every instance of the switch used. It has been suggested to make two variations of each switch with the default path set to either leg. Would make the track sections list in the object selector a little longer. If we then combine this with different track-bed textures for main-line/branch tracks and various combinations of those (main-line curving/straight with default paths for either alternative) I'm sure we could get quite a number of 10 degree left-hand switches. Each and every variation then also needs to be available in both manual and automatic. Granted, you were only asking about the default path but one thing will lead to another. Doing a fictious route it's a little easier as you then can plan the layout that the default path is correct. On the route I'm building you can start at one end and go the whole line, through a reverse loop and back to the starting point without throwing a single switch. Thanks Okrasa, changing the tsection.dat file for my route solved the problem. When I laid out the route, following the original track layout, I had no choice but to enter the Y and bear right. Now athe next question is: what do I change to make it appear properly in the Track Monitor?
I thought the tsection.dat was a global file and any changes affect all routes. If this is the case, use caution as any changes you make may cause unexpected behaviour in other routes or future routes that you might download. The tsection.dat is global affecting all routes. Also, changing it makes your MSTS different than all others, don't know how this will affect activties. The track monitor is a different question and I don't know how to change that. It somehow reads the track database and tries to display the path of the switches but has some serious bugs that affects both Y's and some other switches.
