Finally! A Texas-based railroad! The Texas Central Rail Road! Three miles of track have been completed and after 4 other unsuccessful attempts I have finally started a successful no-error route! It is purely fictional but based on the west-central Texas area around where I live... Think of it as a "Full Bucket Line" but for Texas and with different scenery. Most of the towns in this route will have names taken from real Texas towns in the area..Here's some screens with a BNSF B40-8W and a SPSF SW-1500 switcher...An old-model BNSF Dash 8 departing Eastland, Texas (not modeled after the real Eastland)...
Introducing the TXCRR! – image 2The same Dash 8 crossing the Eastland Creek bridge...
Introducing the TXCRR! – image 3The same train again passing a radio tower and a ranch house a mile outside Eastland along U.S. 84...
Introducing the TXCRR! – image 4BNSF 8608 crossing a small creek five minutes after departing Eastland...
Introducing the TXCRR! – image 5The year is 1984, and here's SP(SF) 2539 passing an old SP(SF) GP9 that's been laid to rest temporarily in Eastland's only siding...
Introducing the TXCRR! – image 6The same train passing the H-E-B grocery store in Eastland...
Introducing the TXCRR! – image 7Here's Eastland on the other side of Eastland Creek...

RE: Introducing the TXCRR!

I've got a minor problem... I made some custom textures for the two lane roads...Introducing the TXCRR! – image 11As you can see, it's got that high angle point-of-view problem.I know it's been touched on before, but I'm not sure how to fix this problem... could anyone teach me the process?------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Introducing the TXCRR! – image 12

RE: Introducing the TXCRR!

You might try this;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/12284.htmlDunno if it would help or not, but it only takes a minute to reload the texture, export without compression, and run remipit on it to see if it helps. Other than that, looking so far!

RE: Introducing the TXCRR!

UPDATE: I've added a wye and a small yard at Eastland. Also three miles down the line I've added a nice highway overpass with a park with a mighty big display in it! hehe------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Introducing the TXCRR! – image 13

RE: Introducing the TXCRR!

DUDE You've got a great start to a railroad route! Congrats!I've got a model railroad friend eyeing MSTS... your type of route could have a "granger" feel to it that he likes. Speaking of him: If there was a Santa Fe route based on the ATSF line in north central Oklahoma... he'd be hooked for sure. Andre "Coonskin" Ming

RE: Introducing the TXCRR!

A Waco, Texas? Not in this route.Waco is too well known to put in a fictional route.HOWEVER:Once I get this done (hopefully before Christmas)... I will begin on the REAL Central Texas area... maybe the BNSF line from Sweetwater to Temple, and the UP line from Sweetwater, through Abilene, to Fort Worth, perhaps I'll do the UP (former MKT) from Fort Worth, through Waco, to Temple...------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Introducing the TXCRR! – image 17

perhaps I'll do the UP
>(former MKT) from Fort Worth, through Waco, to Temple...
Since I live in Waco, and frequently go to temple, I can help in photographical areas if you need....... I've thought about doing this, too, but if I ever do it, I'm gonna include the old Cotton Belt from Waco to Gatesville to North Fort hood, which would back date the route to the 40's.......but I'd do it with its current 2002 track config, but with the SSW Trackage, ok, so it isn't prototypical, but.....Bradley Linda
