I have most out how to use the the route editor for the most part, but I still have some questions:1. How do you tell what track you are about to put down before you do it? There is a lot of numbers beside the track. How do you "decode" them?2. How do you get cars on your road?3. There must be an easier way to move guardrails around then the rotate button! How?4. How do you change texture?5. I have downloaded routes that had just MSTS default buildings from all six routes, but when I look at the objects they are NO building and just very limited stuff. How do you change that? Thanks!

RE: Route Creating Questions.....

I concur with the other posts. Your answers require detailed information and not easily explained. I agree on one thing...get the Tutorial from M. Vone at TrainSimulatorWorld.com. The manual is very good and explains everything you asked....including track data.KipRoute Creating Questions – image 2

RE: Route Creating Questions.....

David (guessing!)1. Telling which track is a matter of breaking Kuju's code. The lengths are in meters.2. Cars are put in with the car spawner object. Click on the information button to change the speeds.3. Once you get the first guard rail put at the correct angle, hit ctrl C, select the place tool and then hit ctrl V. You can copy and paste that way so long as the angle you need stays constant.4. Changing textures, to do this you need to get the texture select window open, do an insert and pick from all the available. They will display in the texture window. You then click on a square and choose the number of the texture from the window you want to replace it with.I concur with the others on getting the book. I was doing route building before the book so I learned the hard way. Buy the book and save your hair from being pulled out or turning grey!

Here's the answer to one of your questions,it's a post from username "wewain" on "track section names"
Track-section File-naming Conventions
Track-section names seem to all start with "A",
(I don't know why, but probably so they start with
an alpha character and to keep them together in the folder) and end in ".s". Per Pages 276-277 of Sybex book:
1t means it's a one-track section.
2t means it's a section with 2 parallel tracks.
3t means it's a section with 3 parallel tracks.
4t means it's a section with 4 parallel tracks.
100m means 100 meters long.
1000r means that it's a curve with a radius of 1000 meters.
10d means that it's an arc of a circle that covers 10 degrees.
Crv means curve (only used in older sections).
Lft means the track curves left.
rgt or Rgt means the track curves right.
strt or Strt means that it's a straight section.
buf or Buffer means buffer (the bumper at the end of a siding).
end or End means a sharp curve for use on a switch to bring the siding parallel to the main-line track.
mnl means manual switch which the player can control.
pnt or Pnt means point, a switch that can only be controlled in the Path and Activity editor.
Pnt2_
Tun means tunnel section.
xover means crossing, where two tracks cross over each other.
Yard means yard, a section for use in yards where curves may be sharper.
wtr means water trough, for steam locomotives.
Skew
Rnd means Round (used with Tun to mean round tunnel)
LvlCrs means Level CrossingAlso don't forget that: You can flip sections with the "T" key,
You can rotate track sections, (or any object) around the y-axis, (which points up)
by clicking the Rotate icon and holding the left mouse-buton down while dragging the cursor left or right.
You can rotate track sections, (or any object) around the x-axis, (which points up)
by clicking the Rotate icon and holding the left mouse-buton down while dragging the cursor up or down.
If you drag the cursor on a diagonal, you will get both rotations at the same time, (probably not the results you want).
search the achive on the board .... there is a wealth of info on here.
