I have the registered version of DEMEX and it works great so far on all 30 meter and most 10 meter DEMs, but I am now finding that it is unable to read some 10 meter DEMs. There is some unclear (to me anyway) information at one of the download sites and at USGS that suggests that USGS has made some sort of format change that affects newer DEM files, but so far I have not been able to figure out how to deal with it.Has JohnCS or anyone else had occasion to deal with this issue and resolve it? (If someone is unaware of this issue but is curious enough to want to look into it, one example of an unreadable 10 meter DEM would be #3520316, Platte Canyon, in Jefferson County, Colorado, about 3 quads southwest of Denver. Actually, there are 8 of them together there that don't read, from Kassler diagonally southwest to Windy Peak.)

RE: DEMEX and newer DEM SDTS fomat

I checked the file, and you are correct. It first gives "Error opening input DEM file," followed by "Loading DEM data failed."I did solve the problem by opening it in MicroDem and saving it to MicroDem format. It then opened quite nicely in Demex. If you do not have MicroDem, you can get it at:http://www.nadn.navy.mil/Users/oceano/pguth/website/microdemdown.htmLawrenceps. BTW, giving the actual error messages is very helpful for any programmer to figure out what the problem is. lrk

RE: DEMEX and newer DEM SDTS fomat

I used WinZip to unpack the files (in .TAR.GZ format), and DEMEX was able to read them.
