Just a prelim view of the revised Trainshed for Harrisburg. I figured out why the roof was transparent from inside the shed. The secret? A. Perhaps the way TSM handles polygons. B. A Microsoft "Feature" C. I have no idea what I'm doing (having fun anyway) I had to create two (2) roofs. The shed has an interior roof, textured on the bottom. There is also an exterior roof, textured on the top. And before anybody asks, yes, I did use two sided polygons with texture on both sides. It did not work.I created some additional detail for the ends (and noticed some things that need fixing), opened the roof so smoke can escape and added a cupola or celestory (clearstory) to cover the opening. Why, it's almost like a real trainshed.I haven't released it to the library yet. Mike Dimaio is beta testing. This time I'm waiting for his feedback before I upload.Frank Musick Lehigh & Atlantic Railway, Canal Navigation Company <www.KelticSylk.com>
It covers four tracks. The Pennsylvania built two of these at Harrisburg. Located side by side they spanned 8 of the 9 tracks in front of the station. They were both about 760 feet long, dwarfing the station, despite the fact that it was 300 feet long by itself.Frank Musick Lehigh & Atlantic Railway, Canal Navigation Company <www.KelticSylk.com>
Yeah, I found that out the hard way when I was building the blast furnace Rich Garber used at a couple of locations on the WVO. I was trying to put an overhang on the roof, and notices that it was missing when I looked up. I just ended up taking a poly, texturing it, copying it, flipping the new one in the X axis and then glueing the two polys together back to back. Simple, once I figured out that 2-sided polys really ain't.
I'm using the shed as part of a large factory complex, it fits in just right. The moire effect on the roof is pretty noticeable at this point because of the texture, but not a big deal. I'm anxiously awaiting the texture for the underside of the roof though...Jeff Leslie
