Gentleman,I have just uploaded a compressed (with RouteRiter) zip of the BR sub, and assuming that it meets all of Nels' criteria (and I have asked him to let me know if it doesn't), it should appear in the library in a couple of days. It is 61mbt.After preparing the readme1st.txt file, I found that I could zip it with the blueridge directory included, so you may be able to unzip it directly into your routes directory, but may prefer to do it first into a scratch directory.A word about enclosed activities:
Most of these probably will not work until you download the list of
rollingstock required and install them. Then you may have to go into the activity editor, open, and resave the activities to bring them up to date. Here is a list of other files you will need - also in the library.Freight Cars - csx-coal.zip (CSX CoalPorter for unit trains)Diesels - P42set.zip, gen-ltfx.zip, gen-chug.zip (Amtrak)crr2001, 2002,3003,3019,904, and 909.zip (five files) for freight
engines in Clinchfield scheme by "yellowdog"Passenger Equipment: all Amtrak superliners in the s1* and s2*
series, and sprcoach.zip.J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired)

Well, by the time you download it, I will be esconced in an upper deck bedroom of the Sunset Ltd. enroute to Houston. That will be my annual Amtrak sojourn. Flying to Kingsport, TN on 9/26 to an L&N Railroad Histerical convention - and thank God I chose Delta and not USAir.J. H. Sullivan

RE: Clinchfield-BR Sub. - Released

No, I don't live anywhere near Bristol. Currently live in Jacksonville, FL, where I retired last year from CSX, although I still work for them part-time through a temp. service.During my days with the Southern Rwy., 1965-78, I spent a lot of time in Bristol, and also rode the coal trains a lot from Andover to Asheville. Although my main hobby interest is the L&N, and future plans include releasing the soon to be abandoned "Old Line" from Etowah, TN to Copperhill, TN which includes the famous loop around Bald Mtn. Also have data for the MainStem, 1st & 2nd Subs. between Nashville & Louisville, but I await the availability of free GeoTiff files first - they make it real easy to digitize your center lines.J. H. RE: Clinchfield-BR Sub. - Released

Some additional comments about the BlueRidge Sub. which I failed to put in the original post. This route, unfortunately, crosses the zone of lost scenery, or the great white void, whatever you choose to call it. On a southbound run, you will encounter the great emptiness right on the turnout at Huntdale, NC. Some claim that you can then save the activity, and re-enter and the problem goes away. I believe this is true, ONLY IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THE ENTIRE TRAIN IS IN THE VOID. Since it is fairly easy to note the location in Activity Editor, I just create another activity with the same consist starting slightly past Huntdale. This is a known glitch in MSTS and not the fault of the particular simulation.Another point. I have named virtually everything of significance using a "platform". The north portal of every tunnel is thus named. In order to familiarize yourself with the route, I suggest that you put a check in all the boxes indicating "stations". That way they will appear in the location screen as you run.The only "real stations" are Huntdale, Green Mtn., Toecane, Kona, Boone Ford, Penland, Spruce Pine, Sevier, Marion (which for some reason never showed---), Thermal, Bostic, Brice, and Chesnee. Of these Thermal and Sevier are actually just CTC sidings.J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired)Look for the KP sub. next in 2-3 months. This one also includes all of the coal mine branches that were extant at the time of Steve King's book, "Clinchfield Country", i.e. late 80s.

Hi all, OK, the activities seem to work, BUT...I need the consists!!! I have most if not all of the items needed, but the coal train uses a DRGW coal train I made MONTHS ago!! LOLCould someone help me out here...I can't use my activity editor, haven't been able to for 6 months or better. Can't figure out what is causing it either. The route looks COOL!!! Can't wait to take the plunge!!Thanks!

I cannot find the consist files as well. I ran the activities through activity analysis and they all indicate the missing files/consist. Were they in the route package and perhaps I had a faulty download? Thanks for the info/help! Michael

RE: Clinchfield-BR Sub. - Consists

I didn't include the consists, and I guess that was an error on my part. I also have an E-mail from someone that indicates that there are some missing snow textures for Sibley's Feeds (next to track in Chesnee, SC) as well as a missing .s file for the same store - that one I can't figure out.I just assumed that most folks would delete the activities and set up their own. However, I will gather up the missing textures, .s file, and consists and try to upload them tonight.Meanwhile, you should be able to set up an activity with the default equipment (a neat test train is the default Amtrak car, and a single -9).J. RE: Clinchfield-BR Sub. - Consists

Good deal! Awesome, awesome, awesome route - just ran a Clinchfield coal consist with 100+ cars starting at Altapass - managed to get up the initial hill (without helpers and 3 SD45s on the front - barely though) and then had to apply the dynamic breaking into N8 going down the hill which was a challenge to keep the speed under the posted limit. FANTASTIC!!! Installed without a hitch. Thanks for sharing the consists to go along with the activities. Thanks again..off the explore and enjoy the remainder of the route.Michael

RE: Clinchfield-BR Sub. - Consists

Evidently some of you are running the route without specifying snow and it should do fine in that situation until it gets to mile 261,262 where there is a missing shape file for a seed store.I have just uploaded "missing.zip" to the files site, but if anyone is real antsy, send me an E-mail at: jhsulliv@attbi.com and I will
return it with the zip file attached (780k), though it is late now on the East Coast, so it may be 1pm or so tomorrow before I do it.All of the missing parts are also in two uploads by Rick Lamp in the files area. My repair kit also contains the missing consists - which to use, you will need to download the other items mentioned yesterday.J. H. Sullivan, P.E.
