I am still not sure how to use Route Riter after reading the help files. Could someone please tell me how to delete the unused files with route riter? I am using version 3.4.2

1. Run Route-Riter, double click on the Route you wish to compress and click the Pink 'Confirm route' button.
2. Click Get .s/.w, this first opens a DOS window and uncompresses the .w files (if necessary), click the OK button when the DOS window closes.
3. Another DOS will open while the .s files are uncompressed, when this closes click OK.
4. Click Find ACE/SMS
5. Click Kill Unused Files. At this point you can exit RR and run the route to confirm it is OK.

What does Kill unused files do anyway? I backed up one of my routes and tested kill unused files. I started MSTS and when loading the route, I get lots of errors so I go into the folder and see that all the texture files are missing. So does Kill unused files delete all your textures?

Only run Kill Files after you have run the find s and find ace/sms sections first and saved the results. It deletes unused file BASED on those results. The help section is pretty clear on how to do it everything to compress your route.PaulS

Alright, so I select a route and press get .s files. You can hear the hard disk sounds and the light lights up but half way the hard disk sounds and light stop. So I wait. I wait for a while and then press Ctrl-Alt-Del. It says it is not responding. I've tried it two times on the Hoogdam route, once in Seaview2 and in Modern England route.
I have 128MB RAM and PIII667Mhz. Does your program need 256MB RAM to run?

Yes, this looks like a memory problem. The program is pretty memory intensive, depending on how big the route is.I test it under Windows 98se on a 256 meg Pentium II 400 mhz machine, and that is about the minimum specification I would recommend. Sorry I do not mention this in the help files - I will rectify that omission next release.
