I've been wondering, is there a way of "unlocking" the Tutorial Route? I tried by adding my own activity, but it didn't work.------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!
These instructions are fairly complex, so if you're not famillar with file manipulation or text editing of the route files, STOP.1. Copy the 'Tutorial Route' folder, and paste it into the 'Routes' directory. It should be named 'Copy of Tutorial Route'. Rename this folder to something like 'TR'.2. Change into the 'TR' folder.3. Delete the 'SOUND' subfolder, then copy the sound folder from the 'EUROPE1' directory and paste it here.4. Delete all the files from the TR/ACTIVITIES, PATHS, and SERVICES subfolders.5. Delete the 'TUTOR' subfolder.6. Rename any file named 'Tutorial Route.*' to 'TR.*'7. Copy the EUROPE1/scotsman.ace file and paste it into the 'TR' folder. Rename this file to TR.ace.8. Now the text editing part .....Open TR.trk in WORDPAD, and change all references of 'Tutorial Route' to 'TR'. Add these lines to the bottom of the file before the last brace: DefaultSignalSMS ( signal.sms ) DefaultCrossingSMS ( crossing.sms ) DefaultWaterTowerSMS ( wtower.sms ) DefaultCoalTowerSMS ( ctower.sms )Save the file.9. Create your new activity for the TR route and save.10. Try it in MSTS.If you didn't understand any of the above instructions, don't continue, because you can really mess up MSTS and then have to install everything over again! If you have custom trains, rolling stock or routes added, you'll loose these also and have to re-install them. Use extreme caution!!Rob
