RE: New Route

You don't have to know DEM stuff to start a route. Download a small route, any one it doesn't really matter. Delete all the files in
World folder and TD folder. Delete the .tdb and the .rdb files. You will now have the terrain less the tracks and roads. Go to RE and begin the insanity. This link will help you with many of the issues we are so fond of. http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/tutorials/index.html
Also, you can search this forum for tons of info.
Some advice:
Save often.
Backup often.
Do not lay roads, crossings or set signals without backing up first.
Don't give up after your first major melt down.
Ask for help often.
Have lots of fun.
Good luck,
Jim

RE: New Route

The NEC Extension doesn't have an engine house, it does have a large passenger station and yard though with the rest of the 30th Street Station service yard that Microsoft left out of the original NEC route. It also has some pretty dense urban city scenery up to the North Philadelphia station on Broad Street. The next release of the NEC Extension once the NEC 4.0 route comes out will continue it even further. Like I said, no engine house but it does have the large 30th Street Station yard and the engine servicing areas and pretty much everything else you are looking for. I hope this helps and it is what you are looking for.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!In reference to post 2.Nothing personal, Bernie. You'll understand when you start building a route."Last night I heard an old freight whistle blow, as I was sleeping warmly in your bed. And it told me: "Boy, it's time that you were packing up to go", but I smiled and shook the leaving from my head."

I'm surprised your not ready for the rubber room at the funny farm. You must not sleep at night... How many months did you put into that route anyway?Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 3Pete Willard

RE: New Route

Hey Pete-
Would you believe: June, 2001BD (Before Dem). I can't believe I'm still working on this thing, but it keeps drawing me back.
I've added a bridge I'm kind of proud of.
Screenshots for ya':Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 4Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 5And ideas keep coming.

RE: New Route

Ed that is a very nice piece of work. A high curvy viaduct with double track and a road and track passing underneath. Excellent!I may steal that idea. Bill Burnett
