Hi all, I'm trying to create a route at the moment in the SE of London after rediscovering MSTS, but can someone tell me whats the VERY BEST WAY of creating an english route. Theres not many DEM's for the UK out there (none in fact apart from innacurate ones) and I havent come up with a good way of doing the terrain! The only way i've come up with is thus..Get yourself an OS map with contours of the area your designingGoto http://www.gps.gov.uk and get the co-ordinate conversion XLS sheet (you have to sign up)Lift and convert all yout co-ordinates of relevant items on the map and transfer them into the RE. SURELY THERES A BETTER WAY?!??!?!?JamesP.S. Anyone interested in Network SouthEast's rebirth contact me, as well as anyone who wants to help with a route in the SE!James
I had problems with that, what if my route spans over two maps or more? and when im tracing the contours, and i need to scroll the map i cant join the two lines up, it just stops.. is this normal?James
I know nothing about the operation of TSTF. I just know it was created for the situation which you described. I do believe there is a TSTF "forum" somewhere, but I don't know where.Smooz
Hi James,Dave Charles made a tool called TsTools which is very handy for your needs, it uses the OS maps grid reference as opposed to Lat/Long references. It has a tool also that can draw the contour lines in. But he has a forum at the UKTrainsim site also. His Tstools URL is http://ts-tools.com/ cant hurt to check it out.Best Shaun.Btw There,s been much debate about using Modern OS maps, copyright and Licences, you may want to read about that at UKTrainsim.com too.
