First of all, let me start of with a "Hi folks!", since I'm a first time poster on this board.Being new to route designing, I am struggling my way through the RE (which has been made much more tolerable by Mr. Vone's excellent guide). However, I have now struck a problem I haven't been able to solve the past couple of hours. Please see the following picture:DCForum Discussion Forum - Missing patch? – image 1As you can see, I am missing a patch from one of the tiles. I most likely deleted it somewhere, somehow earlier in the process by accident, but wouldn't know when. I have tried toggling the visibility (using 'v'), but that hasn't helped a bit.Since I am pretty much through with tracklaying (about 90% done), I am hoping that there is a safe method to reclaim the lost patch. Is this possible? If not, would this imply that I have to re-extract the route again ( oh no...)? If yes, how should I go about this? Thank you very much in advance for any help being offered.Regards,Johan de Vries

RE: Missing patch?!?

I don't think this is too serious. Hit the F2 key. Then left click somewhere in the empty square. It should now be outlined in red. Now click on the view tab and click the texture window and the texture selection window. One of those two windows will have a single square displaying the current texture. The other will have at least one small square and possibly more depending on what if any textures you have used. The square with a "1" under it is probably the default green texture. If not, locate the square with the default texture and note the number under it. Make sure the empty square is still selected and hit the number key corresponding to the number in the texture selection window. If this doesn't fix the problem, I will defer to someone else. Reextracting the tile in RGE may fix this problem but you might end up losing everything in the tile. That patch is not a full tile. It is 1/256th (16x16 per tile) of a tile.DCForum Discussion Forum - Missing patch? – image 2

RE: Missing patch?!?

Thank you for the feedback, Sir. Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem. I haven't imported any other textures (yet), so only the default terrain.ace is selectable.I still hope that it can be resolved without having to re-extract, but if that turns out to be the only solution, so be it. I'm glad that that tile only has a few tracks crossing it (though it does incorporate a 2 cornered dynamic track, which is a pain to re-track)...Regards,Johan de Vries

RE: Missing patch?!?

OK. Try this. I don't think it will help but maybe... As before, select the patch so it is outlined in red. Right click to get the popup menu. Try clicking on "toggle water". If nothing happens, click it again. Next try clicking "toggle draw". The square may turn white. Click "toggle draw" again. While you have that menu displayed, look at the other options and see if anything else looks useful. That's about all I can come up with without playing with it myself.DCForum Discussion Forum - Missing patch? – image 3

RE: Missing patch?!?

I can type just fine, Cal, itz my keeebord that gitz klutzy.Wile E, if toggle draw in the RE don't work, try this next:
1. Open the geo extractor, select the route.
2. Load quad tree.
3. Zoom in, see if there's a blank tile with no blue X in there.DCForum Discussion Forum - Missing patch? – image 44. If there is, right click on that one tile, toggle populated state.
5. Save quad tree and exit.

RE: Missing patch?!?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-11-02 AT 12:27 PM (EDT)No luck so far, yet. I see that I may not be entirely clear here (though it should be visible in the screenshots). The tile is actually white. In the screenshots however, the water has been toggled on. When I toggle it off, the patch goes white. Please, also note that it is not the tile I am talking about, but a patch within the tile.EDIT: it was there before. I somehow managed to delete it or something like that. Just still majorly confused on how to get it back to normal...Regards, Johan de Vries

RE: Missing patch?!?

That sure sounds like you have hit "toggle draw" by mistake when you meant to "toggle water". I couldn't begin to guess how many times I've done that! There's a lot of water on my route. I don't know what "toggle draw" is for but it turns the patch white.I still don't think you have done anything serious. I just think you have hit a wrong key or clicked something by mistake. Do you have any backups?DCForum Discussion Forum - Missing patch? – image 5

RE: Missing patch?!?

Yes, I do have backups, but I'd rather not use them if not possible. I was about to back up again when I noticed this. However, this was after I lay down quite a good deal of water and some more tracks.

RE: Missing patch?!?

Have you tried copying an adjacent patch and pasting it onto the offending patch. It may be that it just needs some terrain data assigned to it in order to become visible. Good luck.
