May-31-02, 01:30 PM (EDT) "Terrain transfers?" Just discovered this gem of a feature, but have alot of questions too. Firstly, how do I get more? And/or how do I modify the grass to look like the tiles current? Secondly, is there a way to make all sides 'rounded'? I notice from the 'base' of the triangle, a 'rounded' blend extension happens into the terrain, but the other 3 sides are rigid? I've only been doing sidewalks and parking lots so far with the rock texture, and haven't really looked in the HELP files yet. But I have a feeling I won't find the answers there?Any pro's of this feature here? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-31-02, 04:54 PM (EDT) 1. "RE: Terrain transfers?" I found this recently as well. What I did was find the name of the texture I was using for the whole square and copy it to the terrtex folder. Don't forget to copy the snow ones as well. Then add an entry to the ref file and you can use it. Click on the green diamond and the I button to get to the tab to change the size of it.In the ref, instead of having a static entry, title it Transfer, like this I did in the IC route;Transfer (
Class ( <Transfers> )
Filename ( lrgcityurb.ace )
Align ( None )

May-31-02, 06:03 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: Terrain transfers?" LAST EDITED ON May-31-02 AT 06:05 PM (EDT)The reason the other sides are rigid are to enable them to tile next to others to compete a tunnel portal. Be warned they put a big hit on performance when used in excess so i think they should only be used on tunnel portals. Use the white side as you've stated, to blend to the existing terrain above you or to the sides of your portal. Right clicking allows them to be expanded so if a large white/transparent terrain gap exists, the transfer will cover it up.
I admit to not having done sidewalkes on my Beta route, but you'd need a hell of a lot. You could try editing the concrete slabs shapes provided to create a sidewalk. Their height would be ideal next to a road as most pavements have curbs. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-05-02, 01:46 PM (EDT) 3. "RE: Terrain transfers?" Thanks a bunch guys. Good to know as well Shagga, I'll try and keep them to a minimum. But they make such great sidwalks and parking lots for burger stands and such! Thanks again. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-05-02, 01:59 PM (EDT) 4. "RE: Terrain transfers?" If you have TGA2 tool you can load the ace. file for the texture you want and save it as a bmp. file. then you can load the ace file for the transfer you want to change and send the file to the editor. you can then load the texture bmp and cut and paste onto the transfer pic. then reload the pic after edit and you will have the texture you want. THEN send the tga file to the editor and you will see a black and white image faded on one side or maybe even three sides. Just get a spray tool from your editor and spray Pure black around the sides you want to fade and after satisfied youv'e done it right, reload the tga file to TGA tool and export the ace file to the textures folder using the same name so it will replace the original file. then you will have a transfer you can use. I did it with my trans-poppies. If I did it anyone will be able.
