May-22-02, 12:18 PM (EDT) "HELP!!! - COMPUTER LOCKS UP, WHY?" I AM BUSY BUIDLING A NEW ROUTE OF THE READING AND NORTHERN LEHIGH LINE IN NORTHEASTERN PA. I HAD LAYED MOST OF THE TRACK, AND CREATED A SMALL ACTIVITY TO TEST THE ROUTE OUT. IT WORKED FINE. BUT THEN I FOUND MORE INFORMATION AND MADE SOME CHANGES TO ONE OF THE YARDS IN THE ROUTE AND NOW WHEN I TRY RUNNING THE ROUTE AS I GET CLOSE TO THE YARD THAT I CHANGED OR GET INTO IT AND TRY TO THROW A SWITCH OR DO SOMETHING, EVEN AS I AM ROLLING ALONG, THE SCREEN FREEZES AND I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE AND THE PROGRAM CLOSES. HELLPP!!!!!!

May-22-02, 12:28 PM (EDT) 1. "RE: HELP!!! - COMPUTER LOCKS UP, WHY?" Go to that part in RE and see if you have a blue pole. That would mean you have a broken track. Also, make sure you don't have 2 switches against each other. Put at least a 2m dynamic piece in between. This rule doesn't apply to mainline crossovers where they are diverging track to diveraging track.David Klemm

May-22-02, 12:37 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: HELP!!! - COMPUTER LOCKS UP, WHY?" Also make sure you have all the textures for all your shapes. I had problems with neglecting to copy snow tex for some shapes which wasn't detected at first but running in the snow caused something similar. If I alt-tab back to my desktop I can see the error message and it names the texture file in question. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-22-02, 03:33 PM (EDT) 4. "RE: HELP!!! - COMPUTER LOCKS UP, WHY?" I DID ALL OF WHAT YOU GUYS SAID, AND ITS STILL DOING IT. I WENT THROUGH AND FIXED ALL OF THE BLUE LINES PROBLEM, I DELETED THE ACTIVITIES AND CREATED A NEW ONE. BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS. THE SCREEN WILL FREEZE AND WILL GIVE ME AN ERROR MESSAGE. I CAN JUST BE ROLLING ALONG OR IT WILL HAPPEN IF I THROW A SWITCH. ALL THIS HAPPENS AS I GET CLOSE TO THE YARD WHERE I DID ALOT OF THE MODIFICATIONS. THIS PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR UNTIL I MADE THOSE CHANGES.

May-22-02, 03:53 PM (EDT) 5. "RE: HELP!!! - COMPUTER LOCKS UP, WHY?" Lots of blue poles! You shouuld have none except at the end of a siding. Have you checked all your switches to make sure you don't have two snapped to each other. But really, until all the blue poles are gone, your in troulbe. Take a shot of the area from within the activity editor and post it here so we can see what you've done.David Klemm
