May-14-02, 08:11 AM (EDT) "Signal direction" Hi!
How does a signal know, which direction it is supposed to control? Does it depend on activity?
In this light, please, can someone tell me how to make a "REPEATER" signal work properly. I simply want it to show the state of the next signal. But, I don't know how does the repeater signal know which is the next normal signal. So on my test route it allways shows that the next signal is STOP.
Is this a stupid question?
Thanks anyway!

May-14-02, 01:30 PM (EDT) 1. "RE: Signal direction" Signal direction is determined by which way the signal is facing. If you're working in Route Editor (ugh!) and you select the signal (not the red pyramid), and rotate it to face the opposite direction, the pyramid will turn with it. The "brain" of the system takes it from there. As far as making signal repeaters, or "distant" signals as they're also called, you need someone familiar with editing the config files for signals. Hopefully one of those genius types will answer you also.Mark

May-14-02, 11:50 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: Signal direction" You need to write a signal script (sigscr.dat) that queries the next signal for its state and then display that same state on your signal. Unfortunately, writing these scripts isn't simple, and the documentation is quite poor. But that's what you would do. There is a function in the script language that returns the most restrictive indication of the next signal of a given type. You would look for the next NORMAL signal type. You would also have to define your signal, probably using a copy of an existing shape, in the sigcfg.dat file and give it a valid type. Once defined, it could be placed on the route.
