May-11-02, 10:40 PM (EDT) "3rd Party Gantry Substitution in the Gantry Data File ??" Is this possible? I've got some dandy wooden line poles from Matt Austin, and after planting half a million of 'em, I was wondering if there's a quicker way to at least get them into close proximity using the auto-placing tool in the RE. Anyone ever done something like this? Is there a way to make a reference in the gantry dat file for a new shape that will work in the RE?

Thanks fer lookin'Tim

http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/4263.html for how to do that.Michael Vone

May-12-02, 03:09 PM (EDT) 3. "RE: 3rd Party Gantry Substitution in the Gantry Data File ??" Hey Tim, Great work so far, but where's the Oaks Roller Coaster?!! That was one great ride!Did you know that the Oaks was originally built so the streetcars would have business on the weekends, especially Sundays?Steve Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I plan on building a scaled down version of the park, as it was an important part of the line. Thanks,Tim Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-12-02, 09:08 PM (EDT) 5. "RE: 3rd Party Gantry Substitution in the Gantry Data File ??" My dad lived in Portland while in his teens. The coaster was a real favorite of his, and in the early 60's, he took me on it many times! That first drop highest point to lowest was a real rush. We usually rode the front seat, no hands! Many years later, in 1974, Jack Anderson, who runs Mount Rainier Scenic RR, and I went to the Oaks to see the SP&S 700, SP 4449 and the UP Pacific. They looked awful, with holes in the jackets, asbestos lagging dripping down the sides, rust everywhere, etc. We climbed the fence and sat in the cab of the Daylight, broken glass, stolen parts, graffiti and all, she was still impressive. We commented on what a shame it was that she was let go like this, and would probably end up scrapped. A month later it was announced she would be restored for use on the Freedom Train!Steve Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
