May-11-02, 05:17 PM (EDT) "rebuild track database goes nuts.." Whenever I try to rebuild the track database on my Nescio route, it starts to travel through the tiles my route uses, but it doesn't stop there...!
It keeps on going, going over tiles that aren't even there..!
The only way I can stop the track database rebuilder is by exiting the editor...
Anyone knows what's going wrong here ?Ron

"RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." uhhh. ... that's not a Problem at all!!That's how it Rebuilds the Track Database (If it doesn't Visit All World Tiles) then you do not have a Complete Rebuild of the Track/Road DatabasesAnd if you do Stop it in the Middle you can Create more problems then you already have now Bob

May-11-02, 06:20 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." Actually it is kind of a problem. I've had several occasions where the RE ended up looking for world tiles somewhere in the area of Argentina when rebuilding my southern Colorado route. My approach is to keep an eye on the latitude/longitude, and when it gets completely unreasonable, do a ctrl-break and interrupt it. I can then save and exit, and when I reload it everything is fine. May-11-02, 07:19 PM (EDT) 3. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." Ok, thanks you all, I'll try one day to let it finish all the way, could take a couple of hours...
But I do have some strange problems now and then...pieces of track missing.....
I guess I'll have to sit through it..
Ron

May-12-02, 02:39 AM (EDT) 4. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." Your start tile doesn't have tracks, so the RE runs through every tile. Change the start tile to a tile which have tracks and the problem should be gone.Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-12-02, 09:26 AM (EDT) 6. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." Try the <ESC> key instead. It exits more gracefully aks if you want to save changes. If you actually have track installed, it should have visited those tiles and will save a valid track database. As with ALL efforts at rebuilding the track database, back up the 4 database files first. Also back up the 4 .bk files for those database files. If you have a crash in the rebuild, just reload the backed up files.I have found it ptudent (the hard way) of backing those files up whenever I do work in the RE. Sometimes you get errors and don't know it until too late, so save at least 5 sessions of backups so you don't have to start from scratch.Bill Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-12-02, 10:11 AM (EDT) 7. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." I have saved over 20 last backups but that was not enough. There was a blue pole in the middle of the yard which was made over 7 months ago. Luckily the tdb rebuild fixed that after replacing the pieces. But the signals I was placing were probably messed upEnocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

May-12-02, 11:27 AM (EDT) 8. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." No doubt about the signals being messed up after a rebuild. also probably any and all interactives as well (station platforms, siding markers, mileage posts). Anything that is interactive will be gone or hopelessly corrupted.

May-12-02, 04:25 PM (EDT) 9. "RE: rebuild track database goes nuts.." I don't think the platforms get messed up. I have had them since I started the route and they still work(as well as sidings). Same applies to 99% of level crossings and car spawners, so I think I will test the signals before replacing them.Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
