May-11-02, 05:11 PM (EDT) "Making tunnel portals larger" Is this possible? I mean the actual portal hole that MSTS creates in-game, not the textured hole that is part of the ace. Anyone have any clues on how to do this? Clayton Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I am not sure if you mean the hole in the terrain that you open up to place the portal or if you are referring to the physical size of the arch within the portal structure. If it is the latter to which you refer, the only way you can change it is if you have the original 3D files from which the shape file was created. In that case, you can modify it with a modeling program such as TSM.Message Areas - "Making tunnel portals larger" – image 1

May-11-02, 10:23 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: Making tunnel portals larger" I'm speaking of the latter. I'm trying to get portals that match those found on the Clinchfield, which were shorter than those found in MSTS. One "solution" has been to place them lower in the ground, i.e. bury them some. However, when doing this the portal mouth becomes lowered and I was wondering if there's a way to make it taller. I guess not. Anyone out there with a 3D program interested in building a different portal? Clayton Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Making tunnel portals larger" Do you meanMessage Areas - "Making tunnel portals larger" – image 2 orMessage Areas - "Making tunnel portals larger" – image 3In either case, you DON'T need the original 3D files, just Shape File Manager: it's been mentioned here, but keeps getting overlooked. These tunnels have been overdone (obviously, I hope) with a x2.5 increase in all axes in the first image and a x2.5 increase in the y axis on the lower image.Browse to http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/tutorials/sfm_faq.html for more details.RegardsYuri.

May-15-02, 12:49 PM (EDT) 4. "RE: Making tunnel portals larger" Hey, that's a nifty trick! I'll have to check into that more. But, I only wanted to change the shape of the hole, not the structure. My particular problem was fixed by someone who created a totally new 3D structure. (Thanks again, Hobart!)Clayton Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
