Apr-29-02, 02:26 PM (EDT) "polygons" I have a 1200 athlon processor 512mb ram memory and a nvidia tnt2 32mb graphics card.
Can anybody indicate how many polygons a route of 5 miles will bear before the frame rate of my equipment will be seriously hit.The polygons are being created by inserting objects into msts from a 3d abacus drawing program.John (engine mad Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Of course, if what you are adding is going hog wild on polygons, then theoretically one object could stop your system. However, there is an upper limit to the World files, which contain the references to the objects you place on a tile, which will probably be hit first.I have PIII, 667, 768MB RAM, GeForce 256, and I haven't really noticed any problems. Apr-30-02, 02:21 PM (EDT) 2. "RE: polygons" thank you for your reply. I feel I can proceed with more confidence. I put in a project using the abacus program which totalled over 6000polygons and I was concerned that I might cause msts to crash if I continued at this rate.John (engine mad) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-30-02, 02:38 PM (EDT) 3. "RE: polygons" If you have too many of those 6000-polygon objects, there could be a degredation in the frame rate. If you can, reduce the polygon count as much as possible. It will make the experience much better. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
