First do a reply to a post, doesn't matter what.
Choose the option above the box to upload your file.
Upload the file and do a Ctrl+C on the link. Now leave the message by clicking the Back button. You don't need to post it, you only needed it for the upload function.Go to your profile and with Ctrl+V paste the link to the uploaded image in your sign.Dick van den Hoven

Apr-25-02, 01:19 PM (EDT) 4. "RE: imbedding images" The image must be a .jpg file less than 100k in size. In the upload screen, click the jpeg radio button, then click browse at bottom right. This will open the standard explorer file window. Locate your file and double click it. When the file window closes, click the UPLOAD button at bottom of upload window. The upload will start. When completed, a text window opens stating the upload was successful and it displays the URL of the picture. Highlight the entire line with the URL and hit ctrl-c. Close the text window and the message window (don't post message). Open up your profile (USER at top of main screen) and go to the signature box at the bottom. Position the cursor where you want the picture and hit ctrl-v. The URL will be pasted in at the cursor location. Save the profile and you're ready to go. Note--you will not see the actual picture during any of these steps. You will only see it when you post a new message or reply.Message Areas - "imbedding images" – image 2

Looks like your picture worked ok but it looks like you got a bunch of blank lines below the picture. You might want to have a look at that.Message Areas - "imbedding images" – image 5

Apr-25-02, 07:36 PM (EDT) 9. "RE: imbedding images" I am not sure what happened on your last post but it got WAY BIG! In my sig, I put two blank lines, then the URL for the pic, followed by my name, city, a blank line, and a comment. Nothing else after that. When you type a message, your sig will automatically be filled in. Type your message above the signature.Message Areas - "imbedding images" – image 7

Apr-25-02, 08:07 PM (EDT) 10. "RE: imbedding images" It's his picture that's so big! It's 1924 x 1222 pixels! John, trim your graphic so it's only 100 x 123. That will get rid of the white space at the right and bottom of your graphic proper. Then upload that smaller image to use in your signature.BTW, I'm a native of New Jersey, so I like the name on your graphic! - AndrewMessage Areas - "imbedding images" – image 8 PATCO Hi-Speed Line Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Try using this filename for your picture (I hope you don't mind that I trimmed it for you):3cc8b69d2e311b09.gif (put http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/ in front of it to use it)It should only be this big: Message Areas - "imbedding images" – image 10- AndrewMessage Areas - "imbedding images" – image 11 PATCO Hi-Speed Line Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-26-02, 06:41 PM (EDT) 14. "RE: imbedding images" John,I sent you an e-mail with some information and a new image for you to upload. This forum crunches images pretty good to save space, so your image was crunched once and my resized image would get crunched again. By that time the image looks pretty fuzzy.- AndrewMessage Areas - "imbedding images" – image 13 PATCO Hi-Speed Line Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-27-02, 00:19 AM (EDT) 16. "RE: imbedding images" OK, I went back and made my name and town, part of the image. the image that you resized looks exactly the same size as the image that i am using now. is there a difference? if not, i am content to use it like it is. as far as image editing goes, i simply created this in the paint program that comes with windows, then converted it to a jpeg. is it possible that this is/was the problem from the beggining? should i use another program? thanks Andrew for all your help.

Apr-27-02, 09:16 AM (EDT) 18. "RE: imbedding images" LAST EDITED ON Apr-27-02 AT 09:19 AM (EDT)Ah, MS Paint. You're fine using paint. We're almost there. Try this:1] Open up your latest image in MSPaint (what you've been using).
2] Choose the Image menu at the top.
3] Choose the Attributes... option.
4] You should now see (among other things) 2 boxes labeled Width and Height. These should have the values 1924 and 1222 respectively.
5] Change the 1924 to 212 and the 1222 to 186.
6] Click on OK.Your image should now be centered and much smaller. That is, not have so much white around it - your actual image and text should look the same as they always did. If everything looks OK, save and re-upload to Train-Sim to use as your new logo. If it doesn't look as described or you don't like it, exit without saving and your original image will remain.Hope this works for you.- AndrewMessage Areas - "imbedding images" – image 16 PATCO Hi-Speed Line Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-27-02, 12:09 PM (EDT) 21. "RE: imbedding images" Whew! We'll get this figured out yet! I assume you got your smaller image, but it was too big (filesize) to upload. Let's try this:1] Open up your smaller image in MSPaint again.
2] This time choose File, then Save As...
3] Type in a new file name so you don't overwrite your original file.
4] In the bottom drop down box labeled Save as type:, choose either 256 Color Bitmap, or JPEG File Interchange Format (I'd try the 256 Color Bitmap first).
5] Now click on the Save button. This file should be smaller in size (filesize) than your original and the DCForum should not complain about it's size.Good Luck!- AndrewMessage Areas - "imbedding images" – image 18 PATCO Hi-Speed Line Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-27-02, 01:22 PM (EDT) 23. "RE: imbedding images" God damnit, Go into MS paint and on the very outskirts there a re small purple boxes. Select those and pull it in wards and it will make the image smaller. What ever is white is a part of the image. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-27-02, 02:28 PM (EDT) 25. "RE: imbedding images" LAST EDITED ON Apr-27-02 AT 02:32 PM (EDT)Now, now! No need to be rude CPrailman. At least John is keeping his huge image problem contained in this thread. I'm sure before he posts elsewhere on the forum he'll either get the image fixed or remove the image from his signature.John, I think you forgot to copy and paste the new filename when you uploaded it. All 4 of your latest pictures above have the same exact filename:3cc9ce5f2f064f73.jpgYou might want to try uploading your smaller image again and be sure to select and copy the new filename from the window that says your upload completed. Copy the whole name from the http part all the way to the .jpg.Then be sure to paste this new filename into your signature area where you can modify your user settings on the forum. If you still have problems, you can send your original image (or one that you would like to use instead) to me in an e-mail. I'll be glad to correct it for you, upload it, and send you the image address so you can use in your signature.- Andrew - ajj1196@hotmail.comMessage Areas - "imbedding images" – image 21 PATCO Hi-Speed Line Whoops!
