Apr-16-02, 07:38 PM (EST) "Update to SRVBrdg1.zip and SRVBrdg2.zip now available" The update SRVBrdU1.zip contains a complete replacement of shapes and textures for the existing SRVBrdg1.zip and SRVBrdg2.zip
Improvements are;
1. All bridges, except the wood 30ft, share the same texture file to hold down use of limited resources. The wood bridge has its own texture file and an open tie roadbed.
2. The SRVBridge2 texture has been refined to pack in as much information and detail as possible. Included are some weathering on both stone and concrete piers and some basic weathering shows up on the bridge girders. Also fixed was a texture mapping problem on the stone pier.
3. Major railroad bridges now have a rerailer track built into them. The roadbeds no longer has rails in it, just wood ties.
4. A bonus for route builders who are brave enough to try this, user replaceable terrain texture for the approach berms. I have used a seperate texture file SRV_Texture.ace on all grassy surfaces on the approaches. You can replace this texture with a 256x256 24 bit color ace texture of your choice using the same name to match your route's terrain texture.
5. Guard rails of my design are part of the approaches on highway bridges. Makes using those bridges a simple installation.
6. Most important of all - If you have already used bridges on your route from my earlier submissions, the new bridges will replace the existing ones with no repositioning required. (One exception, the 125ft truss bridge has to be raised five feet. It was submitted in the wrong height position.)
7. SRVBrdU1.zip is a complete download ready to install. You don't need to download SRVBrdg1.zip or SRVBrdg2.zip to use itCurrently, I am working on three highly detailed replacements of the three truss bridges and several new ones.
While the details shown on this more accurate bridge pictured above are not in the current update, (I modeled this from an actual bridge, the heavy beams don't use transparent lattace as you can't see through them on the real bridge either), the texture is part of the update.
I'll continue to work on the texture of the rerailer to get it more rusty looking.EnjoySRV Ron Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

But any chance you could include in your next set something like this one, which is on the CSX Ohio River sub in Parkersburg, WV:
Would be a huge help as there are several like this in the immediate area.Thanks,Calembeena Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I just need the length of the span and possibly, a better side view to work with.SRV Ron Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

It looks like about 4 engines long, so probably about somewhere between 50 and 75 meters. I would be happy with your standard of 50 meters so that it fits easily with track sections. "RE: Update to SRVBrdg1.zip and SRVBrdg2.zip now available" Do I understand correctly that your new bridges have BUILT IN TRACK, therefore requiring manipulation of the Global.dat files etc. I wish you fellows would have some mercy on us less adventuresome types and provide them both ways - as Rick Lamp is doing on most of his.J. Apr-17-02, 07:51 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Update to SRVBrdg1.zip and SRVBrdg2.zip now available" American railroad bridges are measured in feet. It looks like this one is 250 feet. (About 80m.)
I am not using built in track. The safety rail shown on the bridge is not a track object. It is found on large bridges and is spiked inside of the track. It's purpose is to keep a derailed train from crashing into the bridge girders. Makes it easier to line up with track in the editor.
I am avoiding using any X-Track so as to avoid any possible problems for route builders and to make it easier for them to use updated bridges on their route.
Here's what I came up with this evening on this bridge using the photo and the estimated size compared to other standard truss bridges. It's complex - some 2000 polys.
Now that I spent the time to fabricate it, it will be part of the new additions.SRV Ron Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
