Apr-06-02, 07:41 PM (EST) "Seaview-"Train World Initialization Failed" " This has happened twice now for me in trying Seaview. I have installed through Route Control but I get a file missing error first, and then the above message. Have run RC Clean and Checkup and they do not indicate any problems. Any ideas? The file name that is missing is sky.???.Any help is very appreciated.Hobbyokie Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

You might need to install it manually first, using the infamous EZstuff4.bat file, then pack it into route control. We just found recently that "Train World Initialization Failed" means something is missing/corrupted in the \envfiles folder, so you could try copying the \envfiles folder from \train simulator\template to see if that fixes it. Might not, tho, it could be just the first in a serries of missing this-and-that errors.http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/4317.html Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I have not fixed that one yet. Will try what you suggest.Thanks for the assistance. Always appreciate those of you who take the time to answer what may be a trivial question to you. Where do I find the file EZStuff4.bat. It is freeware located on Train-Sim or is it located in the MSTS folder?Hobbyokie Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

He always seems to have an answer for everything. (I think he consults Ms. Cleo). PO&N5 and Sea View should easily install with Route Control if you have the latest versions (ver 1.1). They will not install with earlier versions of Route Control.Bill Burnett

Apr-06-02, 10:56 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Seaview-"Train World Initialization Failed" " Ah. Yeah, Bill, I forgot all about that, if you haven't gone to www.howintheworld.com to download the latest update to Route Control, it don't deal with custom files. EZstuff4.bat is in the \Seaview folder, it's actually an edited version rather than the original. It's best to use whatever install bat comes with the route since it's usually customized for that route, sometimes the author renames it to something else to avoid confusing it with the unedited version. So for Seaview, find EZstuff4.bat in the \Seaview folder, for PO&N5 find instalpo5.bat in the \PortOgden5 folder, for the O&WV find InstallO&WV.bat in the \Bodiddly RR folder, etc. If you have O&WV, it also has an unedited copy of EZstuff4.bat in it, either one will work, but the InstallO&WV.bat don't copy all the unneccessary extra files. Thanks for the info. I found the EZStuff4.bat in the Bodiddly Route files. Will install Seaview manually and see how that works. I have the latest version of RC.Hobbyokie Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-06-02, 11:38 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Seaview-"Train World Initialization Failed" " Sit up straight and pay attention, son, you're falling back when you should be springing forward. The EZstuff4 in Bodiddly is the original, the one in Seaview was customized to work with the Seaview route. If you use the unedited EZstuff from Bodiddly in Seaview, it won't copy the files from the custom folder to the right places.
Speaking of Spring forward Fall back, all youse other bums go to the store tommorrow and buy some 9 volt batteries, I bet you wound the clocks the wrong way and didn't change your smoke alarm batteries. Better safe than sorry! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-07-02, 08:09 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Seaview-"Train World Initialization Failed" " Sniper,
Installed manually by extracting to the MSTS Route Control folder. Ran the EZStuff4.bat in the Seaview folder. Noticed that there were at least four "could not find files" messages during the xcopy32 transfer. Re-started the PC and attempted to run the Explore Route of Seaview. Get the same message above. I have all the default routes installed with no changes. I have downloaded two fresh copies of Seaview from the Tain-Sim files. Any other suggestions you might have would be appreciated. Apr-07-02, 08:40 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Seaview-"Train World Initialization Failed" " Hmmm. If it ain't copying the proper files, I wonder if you're missing them. Check to see if you have \template\envfiles;
If you do, try copying the whole \envfiles folder from \template to \seaview. If you don't, you'll probably have to back up your \trainset folder and do a "dirty" re-install of MSTS. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
