Apr-04-02, 02:12 AM (EST) "The Many Versions of the NEC" LAST EDITED ON Apr-04-02 AT 02:13 AM (EST)I am posting this to a new thread because I want to let everyone know where the NEC upgrade now stands.First, the trackwork:
(1) The connection at the Philadelphia terminal with the wye that crosses the river to the Old B&O freight yards.
(2) The missing Holly Interlocking has been added at MP 20.3
(3) The missing wye at the Landlith interlocking at MP 25.4 has been added.
(4) The trackwork at Wilmington station has been re-done to exactly match the actual route with those sharp curves eliminated.
(5) The West Wilmington yard has been completed.
(6) Harmony Industrial Park has been completed.
(7)The Iron interlocking trackwork re-done with 5 degree switches at MP 41.5.
(8) The Chrysler yard at MP 40 has been completed.
(9) The Bacon interlocking at MP 51 has been re-done using 4 and 5 degree switches.
(10) The Prince interlocking at MP 57.3 has been re-done using 5 degree switches.
(11) The Perryville MOW base at MP 58 is completed.
(12) The Perry interlocking at MP 59.5 has been re-done using 5 degree switches on the mainline and 10 degree switches for the Port Road branch. This branch extends about 2.5 miles west and forms an effective wye. I also used StationSingle.s from the Europe1 route as a very close representation of the historic Perryville station. This is the only non-default object used in the route.
(13) The Grace interlocking at MP 60.7 has been re-done using 4.5 and 5 degree switches.
(14) The Bush interlocking at MP 71.6 has been re-done using 5 degree switches.
(15) The Magnolia and Wood interlockings at MP 76.9 and 75.3 have been re-done using 4.5 and 5 degree switches.
(16) The Gunpow interlocking at MP 79.3 has been re-done using 5 degree switches.
(17) The MARC maintenance facility yards at MP 84 has been completed.
(18) The River interlocking has been re-done using 4 and 5 degree switches.
(19) The Bayview yard at MP 91 is completed. Alas, only 15 tracks installed. Not enough room for the 30+ tracks in the actual yard.
(20) the Biddle interlocking at MP 94.3 re-done with 4.5 and 5 degree switches.
(21 The old Union tunnel at the north end of Baltimore station is now functional.
(22) The Baltimore station 2 track wye connection to the Bailey yards is completed.
(23) The missing tunnel portals in the south tunnel (4 of them) have been installed.
(24) The sharp curves at the New Carrolton station have been eliminated.Additionally, all mainline siding switches are at least 10 degree units. I have a cab ride video of the entire route and there are no 45 degree switches on mainline sidings.Sidings have been named for the actual companys that use them.Position light dwarf signals are installed in terminal station areas as the are on the actual route.(They look real nice in the video.)All interlockings, interlocking signals and block signals will be in their actual location per official Amtrack track and signaling maps.Construction on the East Washington yards and wye will begin in a few days. Many missing sidings have been added per the track maps and the correct industries placed. The Washington Union Station trackwork will be re-done to match actual route track work. Here I work from the cab ride video and airial photographs.I have tried, unsucessfully, to add George's NEC extension. Problem is his \World files have all the track objects, signals, sound regions, mileposts and car spawners in them and that melts the entire route when I try to add his tile and world files. There may be a way...George?
This is also a problem with Bill Knowles v2.1 route with the extra tiles for the CSX Capitol freight division. This upgrade combines the Bill Knowles v2.1 and the Andy Pratt
v 2.2 (both unreleased) routes. Please be patient folks, this is a massive project. I have been putting in 10 hour days with this. Just when I think I'm getting close I get a call from someone about a track problem in the original route that needs fixing.
For example, at <-76.39346 / 39.34685> there is a very bad track join between a a4t250mstrt and a a4t2000r10d track section. the tracks are almost an 1nch out of line and the train visibly jerks (jogs?) as you pass over the section. I had to spend over an hour laying down 4 sections of Dynamic track and you know how that goes. (sigh)After the trackwork is completed then I start adding in the 5000+
track objects, signals, mileposts, sound regions, car spawners and speed limits ect.Best Regards,
Vince Cockeram

Apr-04-02, 09:03 AM (EST) 2. "RE: The Many Versions of the NEC" I had an idea that may be a possibillity to get the NEC extension to work. If it is the track objects, sounds, car spawners, mileposts and signals that are causing the problem then we may be able to fix it. If you can remove those objects, leaving only the tracks, roadways and scenery objects such as the buildings, will that allow it to work with your NEC route? If it will work if you remove those things, I would be more than willing to add them back in on the new route once you have it working and would be ready for me to do that. That way we could hopefully get the two projects working together. Anyway, let me know if removing those things and leaving the track, roads and scenery objects will work. If so hopefully we can combine the two routes. Thanks, George. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I'm looking forward to the results with delighted anticipation ... even if it means I'll need a new hard drive when we finally get east of the Hudson -Phil Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
