Mar-31-02, 00:13 AM (EST) "Bugs in the Diamond" As I noted in my earlier screen shot post for the TimeSaver route -
http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/4265.html - I placed an un-connected crossing track (90-degree diamond) at one end. The idea was to create a barrier to the south lead so the only two cars would fit between switch and the diamond. This is to keep the switching problems similar to John Allen's original design. I prefered this solution to just ending the track in order for the route to look connected to the outside world, rather than an isolated island of track.Unfortunately, although AI trains seemed to work fine in the Activity Editor animation, they do not show up in the game. Perhaps because the track is not connected. Consists show up, but as you can see in this image, they are "Ghost trains":

Apr-01-02, 04:54 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Bugs in the Diamond" Do you always want a consist to appear on that track? If so, should it always be the same one? What I am leading up to here is the possibility of making the train on the cross track a static object or series of static objects instead of a non-moving AI train. I am not sure happens when you run into a static object. If the train still goes through it, could you place a buffer track piece there and hide it? I don't know to do that, but I know it is possible. Rick Lamp uses that technique in his moveable bridges.Cal Rasmussen

Apr-01-02, 11:42 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Bugs in the Diamond" That's one of the work-arounds I'm considering. I've also thought about putting a signal there and loop the track back to the crossing. That way, by placing a consist there, any activity would end if the crossing was violated. The advantage of being able to block the route with AI trains is that it gives the Activity creator some flexibility. The crossing could be blocked for the entire activity, or for fixed blocks of time. Problem is, I have not managed to get an AI train to show up.Ron
