Mar-23-02, 04:21 PM (EST) "Directional Scenery (again)" Some weeks and months back, it was reported by the member creating the Southern RR, Saluda Mtn. route, that he encountered directional scenery in that going north, things seemed to be fine, but when he moved south, I believe it was, the scenery disappeared into white space, although the track was correctly in place at a certain longitude.Later, a member in the Tampa, FL area indicated that he encountered this phenomena when creating the CSX line between Waycross and Folkston, GA.Well, I found it too. After creating the Blue Ridge Sub. from Erwin to the east end of Kona, NC, I decided to test what I had done so far in order to note any thing that the smoothing gang (sic) need to work better on. At coordinates 36.02632N, W-82.31593 (approx.), I also "lost" the scenery going south. Haven't tried it going north yet, but I suspect that it will work, based on others experience. I also plan to set up an activity going south, that starts after this point, and see what it does.So far found 3 rough spots, cussed out the gang foreman, and he repaired two to the inspectors satisfaction, but it's going to take more effort on the third.J. Mar-23-02, 06:33 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Directional Scenery (again)" Any news from Barstow, where the problem has also appeared?I solved my problem by moving the CSX Nahunta, Jesup and Callahan subs one degree south of reality. With my non-DEM route in mostly flat N. Fla. and S. Ga., it was no big deal to create a new quadtree farther south, just time-consuming selecting and populating tiles with lat-lon coordinates instead of following neat red lines. If I ever pack the route up for distribution, it's gonna look kinda strange to check the quad tree and find "Jacksonville" somewhere in the Ocala National Forest and "Waycross" about halfway from Lake City to Jax. It works, though. All track is in and undergoing testing. Scenery, roads and signals will come in due time next.I feel for Jerry, though, as the south end of the Clinchfield is about as DEM dependent as any route could be, and moving would not appear to be an option.
