Mar-23-02, 03:48 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Models uploaded today" Very Cool! I'm looking forward to using them, you are doing some great work. Hope some of my sound work helps you out. Have you tried the seagulls and wave sound sources I put in the file library? They should go real well with the bridges.Steve Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-24-02, 06:33 PM (EST) 6. "RE: bridge sounds and whistles" 1st, talked to dad, ex NP conductor, he says that when a train (back in the 1930's to the 60's) approached an open bridge, they would use 4 short whistles (call for signal). This would alert the bridge tender and he would line it up. Seems we could do the same, come to a stop or crawl, prior to the point where the crossing detector comes into play, use 4 shorts, then creep forward to operate the bridge. We'd need some sort of marker, a bush or something so we'd know where the line was.Does the crossing signal sound come on when the bridge operates? I know where the sms file is, but where does the bridge file tell the sms to operate? Many of these bridges had old 1 cylinder engines that operated them. If we can point the file to the right sms file, I can make a sound package for it.Steve Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-24-02, 06:40 PM (EST) 7. "RE: bridge sounds and whistles" Steve,I don't know where the file asks for the sound during the animation...but I know that the distance from the bridge can be set to a time out from the bridge and then the animation starts..the crossing sound only is heard when near the object...so you can still do the whistles and set the bridge timing to something short....you may have to come to a stop near the bridge while it animates though.Let me know if you get anywhere with this idea...I'm interested in it.Rick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-24-02, 07:37 PM (EST) 8. "RE: bridge sounds and whistles" controllI was wondering if a switch {G key} engine could drive an animation....Regards

Mar-24-02, 09:15 PM (EST) 9. "RE: bridge sounds and whistles" Hi Jitny,I know that another person was working on some bridge animations that used a switch animation like the switches for rails in the sim...and human intervention was required to make the objects work....(bring up the switch screen and select the switch direction...I think)...He is going to release it with his route that is coming up soon. I tried to take a different tack so as not to duplicate his work....LaterRick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
