Mar-20-02, 09:53 PM (EST) "Ohio & West Virginia: Error Message" After installing the two part OVW, and while initializing the route, it says the following file is missing "terrtex\terrain.ace." Is this a file to loaded when installing or is it one that is copied from another route?Could someone email a copy of the file if it is that easy and I can put in route?Thanks. Tower case, 300 watt power supply
Motherboard: ASUS A7A-266
Processor: AMD Palimino XP1600+
Memory: 768MB PC-2100 DDR RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/Pro 64MB AGP
Hard disk: WD Caviar Ultra ATA-100 7200rpm 40 gig hd
Sound: Creative SB 512 PCI
OS: Windows 98 Second Edition
Modem: Speedstream 5260 Ethernet 300 DSL
ISP: SBC AmeritechI'm 48 years old, I have 4 children and 13 1/2 grandchildren, I have a fairly good attention span, and I've been playing with computers for over 30 years.Now we need some info about you;
1. How old are you?
2. Have you had your Ritalin dose today?
3. What kind of computer do you have, including modem, video card, how much memory?I'm asking all this since the head honcho himself from HITW came in the other thread and asked you a question and you didn't answer it. Did you ever get PO&N5 or Seaview running? Have you gotten any downloaded route to work yet, either with or without route control? You gotta focus, son, jumping around from one problem to the next ain't gonna get you anywhere. Terrain.ace is easy enough to copy from \templates\terrtex, but that may be only the first in a series of error messages if the route isn't installed correctly. And if you're having problems installing all downloaded routes, let's exchange some info, concentrate on one problem at a time, and see if we can't teach you how to use the tools properly.

Sorry, I have been away generating revenue for the family. Unfortunately other needs take precedence. I will take the fifth on other questions. Below is the information you asked for.
Gateway 1300
Mid-Tower, 300 watts
Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz and Motherboard
Memory: 128MB RDRAM
Video: ATI 32MB Video
Hard disk: Ultra 40GB 7200 rpm
Sound: Creative SB Live Plus
OS: Windows ME
Modem: WireSpeed DSL Modem
ISP: Vigoris I have installed and am successfully running EMRR, LTV, Marias 3.0, and now WVO. Still having the same error message when attempting to run PO&N and Seaview. Both were installed using Route Control 1.10.Thanks for the help.Hobbyokie Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-21-02, 10:45 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Ohio & West Virginia: Error Message" Man, and here I thought you were one of those young kids that come in here and jump around posting questions about a hundred different problems. Sorry about that!
Well, you got a DSL, the download speed shouldn't be the problem. It's remotely possible you got two corrupted downloads, as unlikely as that may seem. You have enough RAM and a good enough video card, so that ain't it. I'm assuming you have all six default routes installed if you got O&WV to run, what was the problem there? The batch file should have copied the terrain.ace from \templates\terrtex automatically. For Seaview and PO&N, if the batch files don't do it and Route Control isn't doing it either, the only culprit left is custom shapes and/or textures either missing or corrupted in the zip files. So the only thing I can think of to try at this point is to try downloading again, see if you get the same thing.
I'm currently working on some issues with Ohio & West Virginia and the Hoboken Shore 5 involving lockups (system freeze) when approaching the steel mill blast furnace. The system I'm testing it on;
Asus A7A-266 mobo
AMD Athlon 1400, underclocked to 1050 mhz
128mb PC-133 SDRAM
Voodoo 3-2000 16 mb PCI video card
No sound cardThe common denominator seemed to be less than 256mb of system RAM and/or less than 32mb video RAM, and starting explore route on the O&WV at Zanesville RR yard, taking the left on the wye after the tunnel, and then switching over to the far left hand track going into Zanesville station gets you heading into the steel mill area, where the suspect DV_Blast furnace is. Even after applying the patch, I'm still getting system lockups just south of Zanesville station on that system. I'm wondering if you get the same thing, or if the 32mb video card vs. the 16mb card makes the difference. Let us know when you can, I understand everybody's gotta make a living. Bear in mind, tho, this ain't Microsoft tech support, it's an information exchange, so when we have a problem it's polite to let everyone know how it was resolved in case someone else has the same trouble. Got the O&WV working by finding and copying the files that were missing when the batch files were installed. I did notice during the batch copying a message that said a file was not found. There were two missing, terrain.ace and signal.sms. Working fine now. All other routes and activities including EMRR, Marias 3.0, and default routes run fine. I do get some hiccups when running O&WV even with a frame rate of 50+. Has a tendancy to stop 'n go. Jerky operation. Had two activities that had formatting errors in names in player service (could not fine a consist) but fixed that.Route Control sure is a good tool as well as ConBuilder.Thanks for the help.Hobbyokie Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
