Mar-20-02, 05:56 PM (EST) "Where is the Train Database File ?" Somewhere along the line, I removed a consist called "SSS F45 Freight 1.con" from the activity editor. Now I get this error message:
I clic on "yes" to continue and everything is fine, but It's becoming tiresome. I can't find the "train database file" that the error message is referencing. Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can remove the entry that is pointing to this non-existant file ?I searched the forum but only got "Your Keyword(s) ""Train database"" did not match. Please try again.oboe Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oboe,I believe in the route you are trying to run or it may be in all of MSTS there is a file that holds all the consists you create and if you delete one from the directory without changing it in the Activity Editor then you get this error....I had the same thing happen to me and I fixed it by going into this file and deleting the listed consist (I think thats how I did it...it was a while ago and I can't really remember). If that does not work then try to rename an existing consist file to the one thats missing and use the Activity Editor to delete it.Rick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-20-02, 08:00 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Where is the Train Database File ?" This is a wild guess based on my own experience. There is no Train Database File. At least not in the sense of a file that you can open and browse when not in MSTS. If it's there somewhere, I haven't found it. If someone has different information, I wish you would share it.What happens when you start MSTS, (I think) is that the program looks at all the stuff in the Trainset and Consists folders and builds a temporary database that is only in existence while the program is running. The problem usually arises when you build a consist and then modify or delete one of the locomotives or cars that make up that consist. It can't find something that it needs to complete its temporary database, hence the message. The same problem occurs when you use a consist in an activity and then change the consist or one of its components. The program can't find what it's looking for. A name change of a locomotive, car, or consist will cause the same problem.Use Conbuilder to test everything and it should point out problems before they turn into a big mess. Either delete the activity or make a consist with conbuilder and save it as the missing consist. Route control, either version will tell you the activity that is missing the consist.Consists are located in the trains\consists folder

I actually "believed" what a Kuju error message said, and went looking for the "Train Database file". I wonder if they intended to have a "train database file", or if maybe one of their employees has a "Bruhahaha" complex.I did have an activity looking for that consist. It's all better now, the doctor was brought in to fix the sick "train database file".Thanks all ... oboe Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
