Mar-19-02, 07:38 AM (EST) "No. of tracks limit" Hi,
is the number of dynamic track sections limited? Is it worth the effort to approximate some curves (e.g. lay 20 deg 500 m curve in place of a 18.5 deg 450 m dynamic track) in order not to reach some limit?
I would be thankful for any answer before I get a buzzer at km123.
Cheers!

My Cliff Hanger Route contains about 30 km of track, most of it dynamic, and all on a single tile. (But that concentration of tracks gives a large world file, *.w in the World folder: make sure you stay below about 700kb per tile, including all other objects.)Michael Vone

Mar-19-02, 10:36 AM (EST) 2. "RE: No. of tracks limit" Michael,
thank you for the answer. My question was inspired by the discussion in this forum about some numbers (0000-2000-9999) in tsection.dat file, as I expect to have around 4000 pieces of dynamic track section.
For double track, sloped by more than say .300, I found the a2txxxxdd... sections unappropriate, because a small hole is created at the outer track at each join, and a small step as well. Dynamic tracks are a way around, especially after finding out that the slope can be fine-tuned by num-pad keys in F4 (rotation) mode.Regards,

Mar-19-02, 11:25 AM (EST) 3. "RE: No. of tracks limit" I have about 400 pieces of dynamic track in my 190 mile route. Im building it from actual track charts. When laying double track curves the radius of the outside curve should be 5m greater than the inside track. I fine tune left hand double track curves by adding a single 10m straight piece to the end of the outside curve - then I add a 10m double track straight piece- then I go back and add 10.001 meters to the end of the inside dynamic track piece - then i fine tune the elevation of the inside dynamic track to make a perfect join with no bumps. At this point both tracks are at the same elevation Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-19-02, 02:56 PM (EST) 4. "RE: No. of tracks limit" The Tsection.DAT file has really nothing to do with the number of sections of track that can be laid out in a route...this file
only contains the specification of what pieces are available to the route designer to use while laying track pieces...so the numbers of dynamic track pieces is a limitation of MSTS not the Tsection.DAT file (if there is a limitation at all). The only trouble you can have with dynamic track and the Tsection.DAT file is that after you build a route using dynamic track then use an updated Tsection.DAT file with new track lines added is that the dynamic track will have to be reset either by HORACEing your route or by going into the RE and selecting each piece of dynamic track independently to reset them with the Tsection.DAT file numbering. If you are interested in more information...send me an e-mail at controll@speakeasy.netRick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
