Mar-11-02, 04:58 PM (EST) 2. "RE: U.P. on the PO&N!!!!!!!!!" I think that somebody should put a mining track to that meteor crater behind the U.P. train in the pic ... It's probably loaded with nickel. oboe Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-11-02, 08:18 PM (EST) 3. "RE: U.P. on the PO&N!!!!!!!!!" That's not a meteor crater. My track gang foreman, Joe "Dynamite" Dugan, is half deaf, and he dearly loves a good loud bang, so when he's supposed to be widening a tunnel or something he frequently overcharges the drill holes just a little bit.
I don't actually have a problem with the UP, as sorry as I was to see the C&NW become a fallen flag, the traffic on the Galena line has actually increased since the '94 UP takeover.
View from my back porch, with the Lake Street El (green line) upstaging the UP freight.
